Chapter 147: The Ruthless Couple
"Li Jiuwei, I am a member of the Feng family. If you dare to lay a hand on me, my grandfather and my father will never let you get away with this."
Qing Yi gasped, his entire body wracked with pain. Zhuo Wang was beating him mercilessly, landing punches and kicks without a shred of hesitation.
"Just a moment ago you claimed you would always be Qing Yi, and now you admit you are a member of the Feng family? How hypocritical."
"Li Jiuwei, I am the eldest grandson of the Feng family!"
"And so what? Feng Su is the one in power at the Feng family now, and as for you... you are nothing. Zhuo Wang, keep an eye on him, just don't kill him." Li Jiuwei stepped into the car, ignoring the gruesome scene unfolding outside.
Three minutes later, Zhuo Wang started the engine. "Boss, why not just get rid of this trouble once and for all?"
"His appearance is no coincidence. The Feng family allowed Feng Su and Feng Huang to fight it out for the sake of Feng Li, but the result wasn't what they anticipated. Feng Su was the final winner. Keeping Feng Li alive allows them to keep him under their watchful eyes."
Once they learned of Feng Li’s existence, the Feng family would surely do everything in their power to bring him back into the fold. Returning to his roots was only a matter of time.
On the way, Li Jiuwei received a call from Shen Tang. She frowned instantly and signaled for Zhuo Wang to head to the Shen residence. The people blocking their path were bodyguards from the Shen family—unfamiliar faces.
Zhuo Wang charged forward to deal with them, while Li Jiuwei rushed into the inner courtyard of the Shen residence.
Coming toward her was Shen Tang. She looked pale, and upon seeing Li Jiuwei, she collapsed into her arms.
"A-Tang... A-Tang..." Li Jiuwei scooped her up.
"Miss Li, Shen Tang is a member of my Shen family," Mr. Shen said, stepping out to block her.
"Mr. Shen, I will not spare anyone who hurts A-Tang." Li Jiuwei’s gaze swept toward Bai Xiaojie and her daughter, who had followed him out. Her eyes were so sharp that the pair instinctively shrank back.
"Hmph, Li Jiuwei, no matter how dissatisfied you are, you don't get to make decisions about Shen Tang's affairs. She is a daughter of our Shen family."
"A mongrel, and you dare to say 'our Shen family'?"
"You... how dare you insult me!"
"Shen Tianmi, you are the one who needs to recognize your place. You don't have a drop of Shen family blood in you. At best, you're just a leech—a mongrel with an unknown father, at that."
The mockery in Li Jiuwei’s eyes stung the mother and daughter. She strode away, carrying Shen Tang. Bai Xiaojie’s private life was notoriously chaotic; she didn't even know who the biological father of Shen Tianmi and Shen Quan was herself. Back when she worked at nightclubs, she had flitted between many men, stopping at nothing to climb the social ladder.
She had once provoked the legal wife of a powerful figure and was beaten until her head bled by the woman and her friends. As a socialite, she was an expert at disguise. Only a fool like Mr. Shen would believe that Bai Xiaojie was pure and innocent, forced to work at a nightclub only for survival. He was no match for her; winning over such a man was effortless, and she had become the "white moonlight" in his heart.
It was because of Bai Xiaojie and her daughter that Shen Tang had suffered so much and faced so many dangers. Li Jiuwei had long suspected that Bai Xiaojie was involved in Shen Tang’s disappearance years ago, but she had never found proof. She had always disliked Shen Tianmi, not only because she coveted her man but also because she had repeatedly harmed A-Tang.
Standing outside the Shen residence, Li Jiuwei glanced back at the main entrance. "It would be best if this house had only one master."
She muttered to herself, but Zhuo Wang heard her clearly. His eyes narrowed slightly.
Upon reaching the hospital, it was confirmed that Shen Tang was not in serious danger. However, she remained in a coma, her brows furrowed in her sleep. Hearing movement outside, Li Jiuwei stepped out to find that Zhuo Wang had already returned. He had investigated everything that happened at the Shen residence, and Li Jiuwei listened in silence.
Her voice was cold as she said, "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth."
"I will handle it immediately."
Li Jiuwei leaned against the wall and made another call to her subordinate. "Tonight, bring Wang Peng to Shen Tianmi. Also, bring in the media. I want to see news of the Wang and Shen family engagement tomorrow. It would be best if she makes a complete fool of herself!"
After giving her orders, Li Jiuwei pressed her tongue against her teeth. As she turned carelessly, she locked eyes with someone. The man sat in a wheelchair, exuding an extraordinary air. She didn't know how much he had heard.
Li Jiuwei’s expression turned icy. She scrutinized the man in the wheelchair, her face gradually darkening. The urge to eliminate him flickered through her mind for an instant.
She returned to the ward. "Uncle, what are you looking at?"
"A little fox." Lu Yan clearly felt that, for just a split second, she had harbored murderous intent. Perhaps she had heard her secrets, he thought, a smile playing on his lips.
Zhou Hui looked puzzled. This was a hospital; how could there be a fox? His uncle was as fond of teasing him as ever. He pushed Lu Yan away, saying as they went, "Uncle, you should rest well during this time. Grandfather is waiting for you to take over the Lu family. You can't refuse his request this time. It wasn't convenient for you before, but now things are different..."
"Noisy." Lu Yan rubbed his temples.

When Feng Su went to visit the old patriarch of the Feng family, he was met with angry expulsion. With the masks torn away, he no longer felt the need to pretend.
"You are already the new head of the Feng family, yet you still come to see me? Heh, Feng Su, are you here to gloat?"
"Grandfather—getting angry is bad for your health. If you were to pass away unexpectedly, guess how I would deal with Feng Li?" He lazily picked up something from the floor, making the old man tremble with rage.
The old patriarch pointed at Feng Su, trying his best to suppress his fury. "Get out."
Feng Su curled his lips. "Grandfather, cooperate with the treatment, otherwise, Feng Li will go down there to keep you company."
As the old man’s angry roar echoed from behind, Feng Su closed the door.
"Feng Su!"
"Weiwei, why are you here?" Feng Su strode toward Li Jiuwei. As he held her, he couldn't help but recall Ye Chu's words. Who was the man who had once possessed Weiwei? He felt jealous!
"A-Tang is hospitalized, but it’s nothing serious."
"Mm."
"Li Jiuwei, you know full well what kind of person Feng Li is. Why did you strike him so viciously?" The furious voice of Mr. Feng rang out. Perhaps he had once cared for Feng Su, but in the face of Feng Li, Feng Su had always been second best.
"Because he deserved to be taught a lesson."
"You woman... I always thought you were a sensible child, but I never expected you to settle personal scores."
"Mr. Feng, mind your language. I conduct myself with integrity. Instead of wasting time lecturing me, you should spend your time properly educating Feng Li."
In the past, Li Jiuwei had a decent impression of Mr. Feng and had always thought he was a good father. Unfortunately, his heart was biased. Father, mother, and grandfather—none of them loved Feng Su. Even the slightest bit of love was always sacrificed for the sake of profit or others; Feng Su was always the one to be pushed aside.
"Father, my woman is not for you to lecture." Feng Su’s voice was cold, his demeanor calm, and an icy aura radiated from his entire being. With a single light, piercing glance, Mr. Feng was left unable to say another word.
He didn't know when it had happened, but Feng Su had grown into this. He had underestimated him all along. Mr. Feng felt a tightness in his chest.
