Chapter 87: First Kiss
Tang Yu was momentarily stunned, her curled lashes fluttering in confusion, making her appear dazed. His head lowered closer and closer, as if the air itself had grown oppressive and thin, leaving only the sound of their shallow breaths. Tang Yu stammered, “Bian Yang, you’re drunk… give me the key, I’ll help you inside to rest…”
He quickly murmured his assent, but pressed his forehead against hers, unmoving. “Tang Xiao Yu,” he called her name softly.
“Mm?” Her shoulders trembled, their foreheads touching, warmth spreading through her body, her heart racing. The closeness between them was anything but normal. Yet his nearness brought her no fear. He bent slightly, the arm braced beside her tensed.
“Tang Xiao Yu.” In the bright corridor, the light cast beautiful shadows on his refined features as he repeated her name.
Tang Yu, cheeks flushed, looked up, her damp eyes full of confusion and shyness. Receiving no reply, he continued, “Tang Xiao Yu.”
“Mm.” Remembering his complaint about her perfunctory responses, she quickly amended, “Mm-hmm.”
Bian Yang couldn’t help but laugh softly, his shoulders shaking with amusement. So obedient.
His gaze slowly slid down, settling on her soft lips. His Adam’s apple bobbed gently, his voice lowered as he asked, “Remember earlier—when I told you to kiss me, why did you just ignore it?”
His hand brushed gently against her cheek, making her soft face blush even more. He leaned over her, his dark brows and eyes fixed intently, asking quietly, “Was it on purpose?”
Tang Yu’s lips trembled nervously. “You’re drunk.”
“I am drunk, but not stupid.” The wisps of hair on her cheeks were tousled by his touch. Maintaining his posture, Bian Yang cupped her face with his palm, fingers sliding along the side of her short hair.
Her cheeks were soft and pink, and meeting his misty gaze, her heart quivered. Then he asked, carefully, “Or… do you not like me?”
At that instant, her heart raced so fast, she felt a buzzing in her ears. She could see his lips moving, but it was as if she couldn’t hear his words.
Finally, Bian Yang lowered his gaze, his whole demeanor seeming to dim. He straightened a little, strands of hair falling over his eyes, hiding his emotions.
After a moment’s calm, Tang Yu looked at his profile. He leaned against the wall, eyes closed, his pale, elegant fingers tugging at his collar, breathing lightly.
The silence was almost unnatural.
After a while, he felt something lightly grasp his hem, gently tugging.
Bian Yang slowly opened his eyes, his profile lowered. The young girl stood beside him, head down, her cheeks flushed, lashes trembling.
Her voice was very soft. “Didn’t you say… I shouldn’t kiss you casually?”
Last time, he’d been so angry he kicked the trash can sideways. Tang Yu remembered it clearly.
His lips moved. “So that’s why…”
Not because she didn’t like him.
“Mm.” She bit her lip, lashes trembling.
Bian Yang’s Adam’s apple rolled suddenly, the feelings he’d tried to suppress surging up again, stronger than ever.
“What does ‘mm’ mean?” His palm lifted her chin, standing before her, blocking all the light. “Does it mean yes?”
Tang Yu looked up at him, and before she could react, he pulled her close, pressing her against his body.
Liangcheng was already warm in April. The young girl wore a thin chiffon dress, her soft, warm body pressed to the boy’s firm chest.
She’d just showered after getting her hair cut, carrying a faint scent of body wash, so similar to his own—subtle and alluring.
Tang Yu instinctively panicked, retreating in her slippers.
He noticed her trying to escape, looked down at her, his voice hoarse and tender. “Don’t be afraid.”
In the narrow corner, the dim light swirled. Because he said not to be afraid, Tang Yu suddenly didn’t feel scared.
She felt his fingertip gently tracing her lips, cool to the touch, sending shivers from her nerves to her brain.
Tang Yu’s sensitive body trembled, her delicate fingers clutching his shirt tightly over his chest.
“Then, I’ll count to three and kiss you.” His voice sounded, her gaze flickered.
“Three.” He stared intently at her lips.
Tang Yu’s breath lightened, her mind a haze.
“Two.” Her breath caught, nerves wound so tight they peaked as he said, “One.”
A cool touch pressed against her lips, his breath enveloping her.
Soft and unfamiliar.
She was held firmly in his arms, her gaze flickering helplessly, her nerves all trembling.
Until she clearly felt her lower lip being licked, kissed again and again.
That burning invasion, tingling and numbing, made her fingers and toes curl tightly.
Even her brain and tailbone tingled.
Her mind lit up with bursts of fireworks, every nerve stretched to its limit.
Her wide eyes stared straight at him. Bian Yang drew back slightly, his gaze dark, his forehead pressed to hers, breathing heavily. “Close your eyes.”
He couldn’t bear her looking at him like that.
His palm dropped over her eyes, vision bathed in a deep red.
She blinked slowly, hearing him softly draw breath.
His palm, teased by her lashes, slid through her hair, down to her slender neck.
Pressing against the tender skin, he drew her even closer.
He too blushed, his dark eyes full of her, as if they could hold nothing else. His voice was low and hoarse. “I want to kiss you again.”
She was so soft.
Her lips, her tongue.
Like biting into a ripe, sweet fruit—addictive.
His breath invaded her again, Tang Yu slowly closed her eyes.
But he grew dissatisfied with just tracing her lips, his tongue swept across the seam, tickling, then gently biting her lower lip.
Repeating the pressure, forcing her to part her teeth.
Held by his hand, Tang Yu tilted her face up.
He couldn’t get enough.
Clumsy, yet insistent in his desire.
Tang Yu’s head tilted back further and further.
Gradually, her breath thinned.
She felt she might suffocate.
Just then, the elevator doors suddenly opened, startling Tang Yu.
Hearing voices from inside, Bian Yang quickly shielded her, heavy breaths covering her completely.
The person exiting the elevator paused at the scene, seeing only the boy’s back and the hem of a girl’s skirt, quickly understood.
“Sorry, I must’ve got the wrong floor.” The apartment had only one unit per floor, and the visitor, embarrassed, quickly returned to the elevator.
Tang Yu, feeling as if she’d done something wrong, buried her head deeply against his chest, trembling with nervousness, refusing to look up.
Bian Yang tilted his jaw, Adam’s apple shifting, pulled the key from his pocket, opened the door, and led her inside.
The door closed with a gentle click, locking, making her heart tremble.
She fumbled along the wall for the light switch, when his palm covered her hand from behind, his fingers threading through hers, locking them together.
Tang Yu’s spine tingled with electricity, the boy’s burning warmth surged through her body, and she heard him whisper, “Countdown begins.”
Tang Yu was confused.
Until his phone sounded from his pocket in the silence.
She seized the excuse, blurting, “Your phone’s ringing!”
“It’s the alarm.” He wrapped his arms around her slender waist from behind, resting his chin in the hollow of her neck.
“Happy birthday, Tang Xiao Yu.”
He’d set the alarm for midnight.
