Volume One: The Awakening of the Dragon Soul Chapter 25: Crisis Under the Rainy Night (IV)
"What is there to talk about?"
"I still have things to deal with! The vice president of the student council is ill, and the president hasn't returned yet. Many matters are left for me to handle!" Chen Anyie looked at the scalpel in Dr. Bai's hand, showing not the slightest hint of fear.
"So?" Dr. Bai retorted.
"Please, Dr. Bai, step aside." Chen Anyie added.
"I can move aside, but answer one question first." Dr. Bai closed the main door with his right hand.
"What question?" Chen Anyie asked.
"Your true identity," Dr. Bai said.
"My true identity? I'm a senior member of the student council!" Chen Anyie replied instantly.
"And what else?" Bai Kaishui pressed further.
"Doesn't the hospital's database collect detailed information on every student? Is there anything you need to ask me?" Chen Anyie frowned.
"Oh? So you know about that? Seems you really have been there." Dr. Bai narrowed his eyes.
"Dr. Bai, what are you implying?" Chen Anyie said impatiently. "I have things to do, I need to leave!"
"What am I implying? What else could it mean? After playing this role for so long, aren't you tired?" Dr. Bai smiled, blocking Chen Anyie's path.
"I really don't understand what you're talking about! Please move!" Chen Anyie shouted. "Otherwise, don't blame me for attacking a doctor!"
"Oh?"
Three treasured beads floated beside Dr. Bai, and beneath his feet, a hexagram array with an azure glow appeared.
"Young man, let's see who teaches whom!"
Elsewhere.
Mo Xing chased from the fourth floor to the first-floor lobby, finally spotting the figure in the black cloak. That person dashed into the curtain of rain without looking back.
"Damn!"
Mo Xing cursed aloud. The rain was so heavy, and the guy simply slipped away wearing a hooded cloak?
No way!
Mo Xing took off his jacket, wrapped it around his head, and ran after him.
He couldn't let him escape! This person eavesdropped on their conversation, clearly suspicious—perhaps with close ties to the Dark Sect!
"Ah... ah-choo!"
Mo Xing sneezed, suddenly realizing how foolish he was—he hadn't even borrowed an umbrella before running out into the rain! But if he went back now, the nurses would surely mock him, and the suspect would get away!
Why was he so useless? Didn't he control the water element? Didn't he possess the power of the Water Dragon God? If only he could pause the rain! Even if he couldn't control the weather, creating an umbrella would be nice!
Wait—an umbrella!
Mo Xing, running, released water elements from within his body.
One water ball!
Two water balls!
Three water balls!
...
Ten water balls!
He gathered them into an umbrella shape.
Froze them!
Mo Xing raised the conjured "umbrella" and continued running through the rain.
Whether it was the blood draw earlier or the sudden release of so much water element, his body felt slightly fatigued. Fortunately, the Water Dragon God's power flowed within, quickly replenishing his strength, restoring him to a lively youth!
But now wasn't the time for such thoughts—he was still some distance from the cloaked figure and had to hurry!
Suddenly, Mo Xing felt the ground disappear beneath his feet. He stumbled forward and fell flat on the ground.
"Ouch... that hurts."
When Mo Xing finally got up, the cloaked figure had already vanished into the rain.
"I lost him after all..."
Mo Xing propped up his umbrella and looked around. A bright white light shone out from the darkness.
There seemed to be a building over there?
Mo Xing walked closer. The nearer he got, the more intense and warm the beam of light became, like a heater drawing his soaked self in.
As he approached, he realized the light offered not just warmth, but also grandeur and solemnity!
It was a giant tower!
In the rainy night, a majestic tower stood tall! Rainwater washed over it, shrouded in a layer of radiance. Mo Xing looked up, seeing a huge lamp flickering above the clouds and mist—surely the tower's summit? From his angle, he couldn't see the tower's full form.
"Good evening, students, teachers, staff, and guests from other schools!"
Suddenly, a broadcast sounded in his ears. Mo Xing noticed a loudspeaker tied to a nearby tree.
"This is the campus radio station. Sorry for disturbing you so late. We are about to broadcast an urgent announcement and hope everyone pays attention."
Mo Xing recognized the voice—it was Senior Cai Hong!
Cai Hong was truly well-connected; he'd handled a whole series of procedures, joined the campus radio, and become a host, all in less than half an hour!
"Today, two unexpected incidents occurred at our school. The first, at noon, involved an unknown masked individual kidnapping a third-year student and harming a passing second-year student, who is still undergoing treatment in the hospital."
Mo Xing clenched his fists, thinking of Mian Hua, who had been kidnapped, and Shi Yan, lying in the hospital. Rage surged within him; he had to find this masked person and tear him apart!
"The second incident happened tonight. Many were present at the time. A first-year freshman took forbidden drugs and went berserk; fortunately, the instructor intervened in time, preventing serious consequences."
"At present, the school authorities have launched an investigation and urge everyone to pay attention to those around you. If you notice anything unusual, please contact the student council or the campus security team."
"Students who provide effective clues will receive scholarships and academic credit rewards."
...
Mo Xing stopped listening, his attention drawn to the giant tower. He felt a mysterious magic inviting him in—could the person he was chasing have hidden inside? Maybe he could catch him red-handed!
But on second thought, his study notes had two pages about the school map, and none of the buildings were marked as this giant tower. He hadn't run far from the hospital, and since the campus broadcast was audible here, it should still be within school grounds.
"For safety, all teachers and students are advised not to go out alone or take shortcuts, especially in weather like tonight."
The broadcast continued.
Mo Xing frowned, feeling as if the message was directed at curious people like himself, who liked to wander aimlessly.
Forget it—better return the way he came. Next time, he'd ask for details and come with his seniors. The tower wasn't going anywhere!
As Mo Xing turned to leave, after only two steps, he was drawn by a stone sign at the roadside. Three red characters reminded him of the first clue Shi Yan had mentioned:
"Divine Arms Tower!"
