Chapter 146: The Great Purge

The Mingtai Group soon faced a massive purge.

No one had expected it to arrive with such startling speed. Before anyone could even react, the enforcement department had hauled away over a dozen individuals. Very few of those taken were innocent, and those who managed to escape the initial sweep were promptly expelled from the Mingtai Group, their shares forced into low-priced transfers.

Shu Yiming had undoubtedly emerged as the ultimate victor in this chaotic fray. The factions within the Mingtai Group that had refused to submit to his authority were effectively wiped clean. Consequently, the company held its first board meeting following the purge. Although some of those remaining had narrowly escaped the cull, there was virtually no one left who dared to challenge Shu Yiming.

Yet, before there was even time to celebrate the aftermath of the purge, Lin Peishi was suddenly confronted with the most harrowing trial of her life.

Shu Yiming was still in the middle of a meeting when he received a call from Lin Peishi. Her voice on the other end was laced with tears; after a soft, choked sob, she said, "A-Ming, where are you? I'm in trouble."

Fortunately, the meeting was already nearing its conclusion. Shu Yiming immediately stood up, cast a glance toward Ouyang Zhuo, and said, "Continue your discussions. I have a very important contract to attend to."

Hearing the word "contract," the people below were only too delighted, and none dared to say another word.

Shu Yiming stepped outside before asking in a gentle voice, "What is it? What happened?"

"I'm at home. They found out who I am, and my father is threatening to dig up my mother’s grave."

Hearing this, Shu Yiming’s gaze turned icy. He spoke immediately, "Wait for me!"

Meanwhile, outside Lin Peishi’s door, Patriarch Lin Chong stood at the threshold and kicked the door with force.

He shouted into the room, "Get out here, you wretch!"

"You lot, break the door down!" With that, Lin Chong lit a cigarette and stood to the side.

The two henchmen behind him nodded and rushed forward, slamming their weight against the door again and again.

Lin Peishi was frantic, tears streaming down her face as she glanced repeatedly at the door. Behind her, the wood groaned and rattled under the assault, and it was clear that it would soon be kicked open.
