A Note on Publication

This long-overdue note for the book’s release to paid access was written at my editor’s request; I was told it could not stay at the very bottom, so I had to move it here on short notice.

In truth, I do not have much to say. I will not waste words on polite formalities. I only hope that readers who truly like this book, and who are able and willing, will spend a tiny sum each day to subscribe and support the legitimate edition. In a time when prices are soaring, I can only say this: one small coin a day should hardly count as a luxury.

At the very least, the three coins you spend in a month will give you a cleaner reading environment, and spare your computer some trouble.

My homeroom teacher in high school once warned us: in this world, only achievement earns you standing.

The same is true in online fiction. A website cannot be a charity. What it seeks are works that can bring in high income and high traffic, so only when this book has earned respectable results will I have the leverage to negotiate with the site about the next one. That is the truth: real, and cruel.
