Chapter 9 Shopping (Part 3)
“See you there, bye.” Lingzi’s voice was a little muffled, as if she were eating something.
Mo Yu went straight up to the seed store on the fourth floor.
“Is there anything I can help you with?”
“Yes, I’d like some vegetable seeds, please.”
“All the seeds are right here.” The sales assistant led Mo Yu to a glass cabinet.
Cabbage, radish, leek, eggplant...
“Please pack up all of them for me.”
“All of them?”
“Yes, as many as you have.”
“All right. Do you have your own experimental field?”
“Sort of,” Mo Yu replied.
That patch of land in the space should work, right?
Before long, a girl appeared on the fourth floor, her hands full of bags, all filled with vegetable seeds.
Mo Yu didn’t go to the third floor to find Lingzi and Chi Chi. Instead, she went straight to the parking garage, where her new car was parked with all her purchases neatly arranged beside it.
“No one’s around.” Mo Yu scanned the area with her mental senses, opened the car door, and started moving the boxes inside one by one. Soon, the car was packed full, but outside, there was still a mound of goods as tall as a small hill.
She closed the car door, then got out again. The car was empty. Luckily, this corner was out of sight, with no cameras.
Soon, everything had been stored away in the space. Mo Yu left only two cases of water, two cases of bread, and a case of canned food in the car’s storage area.
“Hey, Lingzi, where are you sitting?”
“Over here!” Lingzi waved at Mo Yu.
Mo Yu strolled over.
“Later, pack up your things and come stay at my place.”
“Why?” Nan Lingzi handed a piece of meat to Chi Chi.
“Just keep me company, okay?”
“All right, all right, but it’ll have to be in a few days. You know, the day after tomorrow is...”
Mo Yu thought for a moment before replying, “Okay, just don’t forget.”
“Mm.” Lingzi’s mood sank.
“Lingzi, don’t be sad. Uncle and Aunt are watching over you from heaven. I think they’d want you to be happy.”
Mo Yu remembered then—the day after tomorrow was the anniversary of Nan Lingzi’s parents’ passing.
Both of Nan Lingzi’s parents died in the line of duty. Her grandfather was the same rank as Mo Yu’s, but he too had passed away several years ago. Nan Lingzi was a true orphan, just as Mo Yu herself had been in her previous life. But there was a difference—Lingzi still had her.
After buying a dozen or so sets of warm, durable tight-fitting clothes and some mountaineering and marching gear, she finally dragged the eye-rolling, muttering girl and her puzzled younger brother down to the garage.
“Why buy warm clothes in summer!”
Mo Yu said nothing. In her previous life, the temperature had dropped overnight from over twenty degrees to minus twenty, and many had frozen to death.
She pulled out her phone and called the security officer, saying she wouldn’t be coming after all and was heading home. After hanging up, she started searching for Mo Qing’s number.
“Old! Freak!” Mo Yu stared speechlessly at the nickname displayed on her phone screen.
She really was childish!
Changing it to “Cousin,” she dialed Mo Qing.
“Well, what a rare call from the little monster!”
Little monster your sister!
Wait, her sister is me! Sob sob sob~~~
After the call, Mo Yu looked as if she’d narrowly escaped disaster. “How did I never notice how bizarre she is, Aru!”
Glancing at Lingzi and Chi Chi sleeping in the back seat, Mo Yu’s lips curled into a slight smile.
It felt so good.
