Lin Anxin understood very clearly in her heart, but to make things feel more genuine, Lin An felt it was better not to reveal her true intentions too early. In Lin An’s mind, if she could, within half a year in Douluo, win over Xiao Wu and have her willingly return to the Star Dou Great Forest to establish a City God Temple for the spirit beasts, then everything would be worthwhile.

Another ten days passed. The students and instructors at the Spirit Master Academy had settled into a routine, and naturally, Xiao Wu had begun her daily studies. Yet, whenever she had free time, she would come to Lin An’s side, asking this and that.

“Instructor Lin An, what is your view on the spirit beasts?”

At last, Xiao Wu asked the question she had long wanted to pose.

“In my eyes, spirit beasts and humans aren’t all that different. The only difference might be that human thoughts are harder to fathom; in contrast, those spirit beasts who have awakened intelligence are not as cunning as humans...” Lin An shared a great deal with Xiao Wu, mostly about the principle of equality among all beings, even drawing from Buddhist teachings.

Her mouth was beginning to feel dry before she finally paused. “Why do you ask these things?”

Upon hearing this, Xiao Wu hesitated, seeming unsure, caught in a dilemma.

“If... if I were a spirit beast, how would you see me, Instructor Lin An?”

Biting her lip, Xiao Wu tested Lin An’s thoughts with a hypothetical.

“Silly girl, even if you were a spirit beast, I wouldn’t look at you differently. As I said, in my view, humans and spirit beasts are no different; they are equals,” Lin An said with a smile.

“I know what you want to say, and what you want to ask. I can give you a clear answer: whenever you need it, the City God Temple can be built wherever you wish. Moreover, I can even appoint you as the temple’s master, to oversee it!”

Hearing Lin An’s words, Xiao Wu found it hard to believe. Could there really be such humans as her teacher described?

“Then do you know...”

“I know, your true essence is your martial soul!” Lin An interrupted before Xiao Wu could finish.

“If it were someone else saying this, I wouldn’t believe it. But everything I’ve seen with my own eyes convinces me. If possible, I hope you can build a City God Temple deep within the Star Dou Great Forest. As for who shall govern it, I am indifferent...” Xiao Wu said earnestly.

“To take charge of a City God Temple, there are costs to pay. I should be clear with you about the downsides. Didn’t you come to the human world to experience human life? To experience everything humans have? Would you give up on all that for the sake of a City God Temple?” Lin An continued.

“If it truly comes to that, I am willing to give everything!” Xiao Wu replied. Of course, Lin An had also told her that even as a City God, she wouldn’t always need to personally manage everything. Xiao Wu spoke thus to show her sincerity.

“If that’s the case, I can help you realize your wish,” Lin An said.

After all, this was not the first time Lin An had done such a thing. Xiao Wu smoothly joined the ranks of the Underworld Court.

Using the Soul Point of the departed, Lin An granted Xiao Wu the power to instantly erect a City God Temple wherever she wished.

Even now, Xiao Wu still trusted Lin An implicitly, never suspecting any ulterior motive.

In the end, it took far less time than Lin An had anticipated for Xiao Wu to pledge allegiance to the Underworld Court. Lin An had planned to spend the remaining time focusing on Xiao Wu.

But now, it seemed only half the time had passed, and nearly three months remained for Lin An to stay on Douluo Continent.

“Should I spend the remaining three months here at the Spirit Master Academy?” Lin An thought, somewhat bored.

Indeed, there were many worthy places to visit on Douluo Continent, but with such limited time—only three months—the things he could accomplish were very limited.

Three days later, Qian Renxue suddenly sent him a letter—of course, under the identity of Grand Prince Xue Qinghe—inviting him to the imperial city of the Heavenly Dou Empire to assist with a matter.

Lin An thought that since he had no other plans, he might as well go see Qian Renxue.

After all, Qian Renxue had said she would build the first City God Temple in the shortest possible time.

Yet, so far, the Soul Points Lin An had received were very few, making him realize that although Qian Renxue claimed to be building a City God Temple, none had yet been constructed.

It was necessary to go and supervise.

He still hoped that before leaving Douluo Continent, his Soul Points would reach a million.

But as it stood, he hadn’t even reached a fraction of that.

After bidding farewell to his master, Lin An set off alone toward the imperial city of the Heavenly Dou Empire.

Xiao Wu had also taken leave from the academy, saying there was family business requiring her to return home, leaving the master alone at the Spirit Master Academy.

Qian Renxue had not mentioned anything to Lin An, which he found strange.

Why not clarify matters beforehand, rather than wait until arriving at the Heavenly Dou Empire?

Ten days later, Lin An had already appeared in the imperial city of the Heavenly Dou Empire. The moment he entered, Qian Renxue’s people sought him out.

That same night, a residence was arranged for him.

“What exactly do you want from me?” Lin An asked as soon as Qian Renxue appeared.

“Is this the person you said could help us? He doesn’t look like much!” Behind Qian Renxue stood five young men around Lin An’s age.

Their gazes toward Lin An were filled with hostility.

“I really had no choice but to bring you here. These men are all from the Spirit Hall and know my true identity. Feel free to speak openly—there are no outsiders present!” Qian Renxue introduced each of them in turn.

Lin An nodded. Qian Renxue had been masquerading as Xue Qinghe for some time. Her original entourage had likely been replaced by her own people or members of the Spirit Hall.

So it was not unusual that several talented young men suddenly appeared.

“To join our ranks, you need some real strength. Frankly, I doubt your abilities. You must defeat me or any one of us to earn the right to work alongside us!” One of them spoke with an arrogant, indifferent expression. From his gaze toward Qian Renxue, it was clear he harbored unique feelings for her, which explained his strong hostility toward the sudden appearance of Lin An.
