The two of them blushed awkwardly, and the urge that Summer Yu Wei had to scold him for his impulsiveness diminished by more than half. After all, this child was standing before her, alive and well, and she no longer had to spend sleepless nights worrying about him.

Lu Yichen took off his shoes, stepping onto the floor in his socks. He walked into the living room and, with practiced ease, sat down on the sofa without the slightest hint of courtesy.

Summer Yu Wei followed him in and asked, "Have you had dinner?"

Lu Yichen shook his head. He hadn’t even had lunch, let alone dinner, simply because he hadn’t felt hungry. But now, sitting in this unpretentious home, hunger struck him all at once, sharp and insistent.

"You haven’t eaten? I knew it..." Summer Yu Wei sighed.

She had always known about his stubbornness. Skipping meals when upset was nothing new. He was such a typical... child.

"Vivi, I want to eat." Only when she asked did Lu Yichen realize his hunger. Now, being by her side, even though she was no longer as unreservedly kind to him as before, at least she hadn’t driven him away. That alone gave him a sense of peace.

"Alright, I’ll let you eat first before I settle accounts with you. What do you want to eat?—Oh, right, I didn’t buy groceries today when I got back..." Summer Yu Wei spoke as she picked a pear from the fruit plate on the coffee table and handed it to him.

"Anything is fine." He leaned back on the sofa like a well-behaved child, quietly watching her, accepting the peeled pear from her hand.

Summer Yu Wei turned to her bedroom to put on her clothes properly, then went to the kitchen to check the refrigerator for anything edible. She found only a single tomato and a few eggs, so she busied herself preparing tomato and egg noodles.

"It’s ready. Come and see if it suits your taste!" After a while in the kitchen, she carried a large bowl of noodles out toward the living room.

On the television, a martial arts film flickered on and off. Across from the TV, the pear she had handed him sat in the fruit plate on the coffee table. Lu Yichen was sprawled on the blue sofa, the remote control having already slipped from his hand to the floor.

He had fallen asleep.

Seeing this, Summer Yu Wei curved her lips into a slight smile and shook her head with a gentle sigh. She carried the noodles back to the kitchen.

She fetched a thin quilt to cover him, knelt beside him, and tucked the edge of the blanket around his neck. As he turned over to face her, her hand was pinned beneath his neck; as if sensing comfort, he reached out and placed his own hand over hers, sinking into a deep sleep.

His face was like a perfect sculpture carved by God—truly flawless. Summer Yu Wei let him hold her hand, kneeling quietly by his side, gazing at him. At this moment, as he slept, he looked even more like an angel. Watching him sleep so peacefully in her home, saying nothing, a strange warmth welled up in her heart.

Though many saw him as a willful, domineering young master, she thought he was the most endearing child in the world.

Who, in the future, would be fortunate enough to receive his love? Who would be cherished by him for a lifetime?

At this thought, she couldn’t help but sigh softly again. She hadn’t even had the chance to ask him where he had been or why he had suddenly appeared at her door, making her worry the whole night. And now, he slept soundly as if nothing had happened...
