Chapter Fifty: Saving My Family! Repairing the Chaos Pearl?
When Nuwa proposed a solution to Chenxing’s dilemma, he immediately pressed her for details, his emotions running high. Seeing how anxious he was, Nuwa did not hesitate and calmly explained, “You cannot return to that Earth because your cultivation is too advanced, and your Dao heart is not yet complete. Unable to control your own aura, your presence would overwhelm that planet, wouldn’t it?”
Chenxing nodded.
“Now, due to certain unusual circumstances, Earth will vanish in the near future. You worry that you still won’t be able to bring your family out in time, am I right?” Nuwa asked again. Chenxing nodded once more.
“You can only suppress your cultivation to the Quasi-Saint level, yet still cannot return to Earth, so does that mean Earth cannot withstand even the arrival of a Quasi-Saint cultivator?” Nuwa asked, her tone tinged with doubt.
Chenxing shook his head and explained, “That’s not it. It’s because of something within me. Even if I were to suppress myself to the level of an ordinary person, I still couldn’t descend upon Earth!”
Nuwa’s eyes brightened, and she clapped her hands with a smile. “That’s perfect! You cannot go to Earth, but Little Demon and I can go in your stead and bring them here!”
Little Demon, standing nearby, was equally excited, her eyes shining as she exclaimed, “Yes, yes! We can help Brother bring Uncle and Aunt to the Wildlands!”
Struck by Nuwa’s suggestion, Chenxing felt as if thunder had crashed around him. After a long moment, he forced a bitter smile and said, “Now I finally understand why my Dao heart has been so difficult to complete. Such a simple matter, and yet I have agonized over it for hundreds of thousands of years. I always thought of myself as that ordinary man from Earth!” Realizing how easily his long-held wish could be fulfilled, Chenxing was overjoyed.
As the three rejoiced, Nuwa suddenly withdrew her smile and wore a troubled expression. “But Uncle and Aunt are ordinary people. They cannot cross the barrier into the Wildlands. What should we do?”
Though her words sounded worried, her gaze was slyly fixed on the Boundary Breaking Shuttle, which Chenxing had reclaimed. A hint of cunning flickered in her eyes.
Noticing Nuwa’s crafty look, Chenxing smiled and shook his head. “The Boundary Breaking Shuttle cannot be used yet. Only when one’s soul reaches the Sage realm can it be operated.”
Nuwa had merely intended to tease Chenxing, but upon hearing his reply, her face changed and she cried out, “Ah! Without the Boundary Breaking Shuttle, how can we bring Uncle and Aunt out of Earth?”
She looked genuinely anxious. Though she had not planned to demand the shuttle from Chenxing, she had hoped to borrow it. Her method relied on the shuttle’s power to break through boundaries, and without it, her plan was useless.
Watching the two women fret, Chenxing chuckled lightly. “No need to worry. Though the shuttle is unusable, I can send you directly to Earth.”
---
“No, that won’t work! Even if we reach Earth, Uncle and Aunt are ordinary people and cannot separate themselves from the confines of the atmosphere. It would be too dangerous,” Nuwa said, shaking her head.
Chenxing realized she was right. Although his parents had achieved longevity, as ordinary humans, they still could not survive without air.
While he pondered a solution, Little Demon suddenly spoke up. “Why don’t we teach Uncle and Aunt to cultivate on Earth first? Once they achieve some success, we can bring them back to the Wildlands. It shouldn’t take many years.”
Chenxing frowned, forming a spell in his hands, and after a moment, shook his head. “No, there’s not enough time. The Great Calamity of the Wildlands is imminent, and Earth’s spiritual energy is already exceedingly sparse. There’s no time for them to cultivate.”
Nuwa and Little Demon had already heard of the impending calamity from Chenxing and were not surprised, yet Nuwa wondered aloud, “How is this related to the Wildlands’ Great Calamity?”
Chenxing sighed, unable to explain further.
In truth, before Chenxing had left Earth, the monster he encountered in Shennongjia was a manifestation of calamity qi. Though Chenxing could now easily destroy such calamity qi, it required that he be able to return to Earth.
His parents had attained longevity, so Chenxing had not been particularly worried. However, the problem was that his body at the time had been controlled by a fragment of independent divine consciousness from the Primordial Bead. Using faith forged by Earth’s people, the Immortal Slaying Sword had sealed the source of the calamity qi.
Now, as the Dragon and Phoenix Calamity approaches, the Four Immortal Slaying Swords of Rahu will soon be completed. When the true Immortal Slaying Sword is forged, the faith-forged sword will vanish, and Earth will face its own great calamity—what Earth’s people call the coming apocalypse!
Though his parents’ lives had been stabilized by the purple qi of the Dao, granting them immortality, they might not survive the apocalyptic disaster.
Chenxing wore an expression of helplessness. Not wanting to reveal his identity as the Dao Master for now, he simply said, “This Wildlands Calamity will trigger calamity on Earth as well. I fear my parents won’t be able to avoid it.”
The three fell silent. After a long pause, Little Demon muttered, “If only there were something to contain Uncle and Aunt that could also provide air!” Her voice was tinged with dejection.
Hearing her, Chenxing’s eyes lit up. He suddenly turned to Nuwa. “Nuwa, do you still have the bead we got from Ancestor Qilin?”
Nuwa was confused. “You mean the damaged Chaos Treasure, the Chaos Pearl?”
Chenxing nodded eagerly. “Yes, that’s the one. Do you have it?”
---
Nuwa nodded in puzzlement. “I have it, but it can only store objects, not living beings.” As she spoke, she flipped her jade hand, revealing a pitch-black pearl.
Chenxing took the pearl with solemnity and said to Nuwa, “Do you remember what I told you years ago?”
Nuwa nodded, still confused. “Back then you said this pearl would be of great use, but until now, aside from being an item storage, I haven’t discovered any other function.”
Chenxing gave a bitter smile and said, “Do you know what would happen if a Quasi-Saint at Hongjun’s level learned that you possessed this pearl?”
Nuwa dismissed the idea. “I know it’s a Chaos Treasure, but since it’s already broken, how precious could it be? Would it really provoke Hongjun’s covetousness?”
Shaking his head, Chenxing looked at the unconcerned Nuwa, a teasing glint in his eye. “What if I told you that this pearl could help you achieve the status of a Dao Sage? Would you believe me?”
“A... a Dao Sage!” Nuwa stammered in shock. “Impossible! Even Pangu failed. Could… could this pearl really do that?”
Seeing her astonishment, Chenxing laughed heartily. On Fangzhang Island, he had no fear of being overheard, and so he explained, “Although the pearl is damaged, it can still be repaired. Once restored, it will form a miniature chaotic world inside. When your cultivation reaches the required level, you can open your own small world within it and attain Dao Sagehood. Though it’s not as grand as Pangu’s creation of the Wildlands, you would no longer be bound by the Heavenly Dao. Is that not precious?”
Hearing this, a blush rose to Nuwa’s cheeks. All these years, she had followed Chenxing’s instructions and never shown the pearl to anyone, but had not paid it much mind, using it simply for storage. Now, realizing its true value, she felt somewhat embarrassed.
Just as Chenxing was about to continue discussing the Chaos Pearl, Nuwa stood up resolutely and said seriously, “Brother Chenxing, I wish to give this pearl to Little Demon. After all, it originally came from her.”
Chenxing was taken aback. Before he could respond, Little Demon, face flushed, waved her hands in panic and stammered, “Nuwa, I… I don’t want it. The pearl… it belongs to you.”
Seeing Little Demon’s anxiety, Chenxing stepped forward, wrapped her in his embrace and drew Nuwa close with his other arm, smiling gently. “Once I manage to repair the pearl, it will remain with Nuwa. As for Little Demon—” A boundless aura radiated from his face. “My woman’s future achievements will never be hindered by the Heavenly Dao!”
