Chapter 110: Taking on an Apprentice, Liu Yiyi, A New Beginning
Beyond the Blue Star, high above the heavens, nine jet-black dragon corpses were dragging a massive bronze coffin, carrying with them an aura of desolation and ancient times, descending toward Mount Tai.
The numerous travelers who had been enjoying themselves atop the mountain suddenly felt a suffocating atmosphere pressing down on their hearts, as if the very sky was collapsing.
Curious eyes turned skyward, and suddenly, a sharp-eyed onlooker pointed and exclaimed, "What is that?"
Hearing the outcry, everyone instinctively looked in the direction indicated.
Against the clear sky, a small black dot was falling toward Mount Tai. Due to the great distance, none could discern what it truly was.
To get a better look, some pulled out their binoculars and gazed upward.
"A dragon! It's a dragon!" shouted one individual holding a high-powered telescope. Chaos erupted atop Jade Emperor Peak as countless tourists fled downhill, fearing they might be swallowed by the colossal beasts.
Ye Fan and his companions hurriedly gathered. A timid female voice panicked, "We should hurry down as well—better safe than sorry!"
Among the crowd, Liu Yunzhi, from a well-off family, sneered dismissively, "What’s there to fear? I don’t believe it’s a dragon. Even if it is, just seeing one with our own eyes is worth the trip."
The young men, their eyes glittering with excitement, were eager to witness the legendary dragons. Even Ye Fan, who usually clashed with Liu Yunzhi, did not oppose the idea.
Only Ye Fan’s ex-girlfriend, Li Xiaoman, voiced concern, "If those really are dragons, won’t something dangerous happen?"
Several timid girls nodded in agreement, unwilling to take any risks. Yet, under the insistence of the boys, they stayed behind.
At that moment, Chen Mi, holding little Chen Chen, approached alongside Chen Xing. Seeing this, the usually hesitant and fearful Liu Yiyi hurried forward anxiously, "You have children with you—please descend quickly! There might be danger here soon!"
Chen Xing smiled gently at the worried woman, "Don’t worry, we’ve all trained in martial arts. But why don’t you leave first?"
Liu Yiyi’s anxiety deepened. Martial arts or not, those were dragons! After urging them for a long time and seeing their firm resolve, she had no choice but to stay close, hoping to protect the little girl if needed.
The nine black dragon corpses gradually came into view. Seeing the reality of nine enormous dragons left the boys stunned. Someone shouted in shock, "Oh my god! They’re really dragons! Run!"
Pandemonium broke out as the crowd scrambled downhill. Even Liu Yunzhi and his group abandoned their curiosity and ran frantically, wishing for extra legs to escape faster.
Not far from the starting point, a tremendous roar echoed through Jade Emperor Peak as the nine dragons, still dragging the bronze coffin, finally landed with a thunderous impact.
The force of the landing sent the crowd tumbling helplessly across the ground, each one looking utterly disheveled.
Only Chen Xing and his sister, along with Liu Yiyi trailing behind, remained standing.
Perhaps lost in the chaos, others missed it, but Liu Yiyi clearly saw that the shockwave failed to disturb Chen Xing and Chen Mi even slightly—their robes did not flutter. She stared, dumbfounded.
As calm returned, Ye Fan was the first to rise. Hearing no dragon roars behind him, he turned to see the nine dragons with tightly closed eyes, utterly devoid of life.
Curious, he summoned courage and approached one of the black dragons, touching its body. It was ice-cold. Clearly, these dragons had long since perished. He exhaled in relief.
"These dragons are dead. Don’t be afraid," Ye Fan said with a smile.
His words invigorated the crowd. They hurried to the dragons, touching their cold bodies with awe.
Several bold girls even took out their phones to snap pictures beside the dragons.
Just as the crowd excitedly circled the dragons, a sudden rumble shook the ground beneath the landing site. The earth caved in, and amid gasps, Ye Fan and the others fell into the pit.
Only Liu Yiyi felt her body gently float down into the crater unharmed.
Startled, she turned to Chen Xing and Chen Mi, just in time to see Chen Mi, her face veiled, smiling warmly at her.
A surge of emotion overwhelmed Liu Yiyi’s heart. She knew these two were no ordinary people—perhaps even the legendary beings from myth.
Before she could fully comprehend, a clear, melodious voice whispered in her ear: "Enough, young girl. Don’t let your mind wander. You will understand our origins in time. For now, I ask you—will you accept me as your master?"
The voice was unmistakably Chen Mi’s.
Liu Yiyi paused and glanced around. Others were climbing out of the pit, seemingly unaware of the voice, confirming it was directed solely at her. Joy blossomed in her heart.
Seeing her surprise and confusion, Chen Mi smiled gently, knowing the weight of her words had stunned Liu Yiyi.
With a soft smile and a flourish of her palm, Chen Mi led Liu Yiyi, and they vanished into the giant pit.
Chen Xing looked on quietly, smiling at the others.
As Ye Fan and the others had just regained their footing, they noticed a soil-colored altar rising within the giant pit.
"Bagua!" Ye Fan’s eyes lit up. He hurried forward to examine it carefully—the eight trigrams: Qian, Kun, Xun, Zhen, Kan, Li, Gen, and Dui.
Arranged harmoniously in the eight directions were various ceremonial objects—exactly as Ye Fan had seen in ancient texts about the Fu Xi Bagua.
The others curiously touched the strange artifacts, murmuring in wonder.
None noticed Liu Yiyi’s disappearance, and Chen Xing sighed inwardly, lamenting how little she mattered to the others.
Suddenly, Chen Mi reappeared beside Chen Xing with Liu Yiyi in tow. Smiling, Chen Mi nodded at her brother, signaling that Liu Yiyi had been accepted.
Seeing the excitement shining in Liu Yiyi’s eyes, Chen Xing felt immense happiness, silently wishing that this kind-hearted girl would never again know sorrow.
As the group approached the giant coffin behind the dragons like detectives, the objects embedded on the altar suddenly turned to ash and vanished in a blink.
A mist rose, forming a Bagua symbol that slowly spun in the air.
They suddenly found their bodies frozen, unable to move, helplessly watching as the coffin split open, sucking them inside.
Once inside, the bronze coffin closed swiftly, extinguishing all light.
Only those at the foot of Mount Tai witnessed the nine dragons once again dragging the coffin, slowly entering the mysteriously appearing Bagua symbol in the sky, disappearing without a trace.
What they did not know was that dozens of people had been taken away from Earth within that coffin. Later, the government recorded this event and sealed it in classified files.
The tale of the Nine Dragons Dragging the Coffin became a favorite topic for countless conversations and speculation thereafter.
