Chapter 124: The Flying Sword Triumphs Once More
Liu Feng watched as the spear hurtled toward him with lightning speed. His vital energy surged wildly, coalescing into a golden shield that he raised before himself.
“Bang!”
The golden shield collided with the white spear, erupting in a thunderous clash. Then came a sharp crack—the shield shattered, and the spear slammed fiercely into Liu Feng’s body.
The impact jolted him, forcing him a step backward.
“This is bad! It seems my vital energy is depleting rapidly. I’ve forged two weapons already, yet still, I can’t withstand even a single strike from him,” Liu Feng thought grimly.
“Whoosh!” At that moment, a piercing whistling sound came from behind. Liu Feng barely turned his head when a dazzling white light, like a bolt of lightning, pierced toward him.
“Smack!” A thunderous sound echoed as the white light struck Liu Feng’s abdomen directly. He felt a sharp surge of vital energy burrowing into his body.
“Pfft!” The force shook him violently, causing him to cough up a mouthful of blood. Fortunately, his Invulnerable Golden Body was rapidly activating, grinding this energy away before it could penetrate further.
“Impressive! Liu Feng, you’ve been hit by my Annihilation Arrow and yet only suffered minor injuries. I must admit, you’ve earned my respect,” came Yang Rui’s cool voice.
Following the voice, Liu Feng realized Yang Rui had somehow maneuvered behind him. That very attack had come from his rear.
“Annihilation Arrow!” Liu Feng’s heart tightened at the name. The Annihilation Arrow was a lethal martial technique capable of destroying meridians, extremely difficult to master. He hadn’t expected Yang Rui to wield such a skill.
“If it’s that technique, then Liu Feng’s in serious danger,” Wang Xing said with concern.
“The Annihilation Arrow not only destroys meridians but also annihilates vital energy. Such a venomous technique—it's shocking someone actually practices it,” Zhang Liang added, worry etched on his face.
Zhao Bochao watched Liu Feng on the arena floor with steely determination. “Though the Annihilation Arrow is formidable, I believe Liu Feng will find a way to counter it.”
“Let’s hope so,” Zhao Jun said anxiously.
On a special viewing platform, several imposing figures observed the match intently.
One spoke, “Wang Bin, it seems your Liu Feng from Qingyu Kingdom is going to lose this time.”
“Yang Zhi, you’re being too hasty. The match has only just begun—you can’t be so sure Liu Feng will fall,” Wang Bin replied.
“You two—one emperor of Qingyu Kingdom, the other of Mengyue Kingdom—why quarrel over a mere mortal?” another man in yellow robes interjected.
“Wang Bin, words won’t decide victory or defeat. Let’s wager: the loser will concede a city to the winner. Do you dare?” Yang Zhi said coolly.
Wang Bin considered for a moment. “That’s quite a high stake.”
“Ha! So you admit I’m right? Then, before Sun Ming and Kong Xuan, confess your defeat,” Yang Zhi pressed with a smirk.
“You’re pushing too hard. Fine! I accept your bet—loser shall hand over a city,” Wang Bin snapped, irritation flashing in his eyes.
Yang Zhi smiled faintly. “Sun Ming, Kong Xuan, you heard that. Be our witnesses.”
Sun Ming and Kong Xuan were taken aback; they hadn’t expected such a bold wager.
“You’ll be the witnesses. Neither can deny the outcome,” Wang Bin said, glancing at them.
Seeing their earnest expressions, the two nodded resignedly. “Very well, we’ll bear witness.”
With the wager sealed, the emperors fell silent, all eyes riveted on the duel below.
On the arena, Liu Feng was battered, his vital energy far inferior to Yang Rui’s. The Annihilation Arrow was swift and relentless, leaving him defenseless.
In no time, Liu Feng had been struck over ten times. Though his Invulnerable Golden Body shielded his meridians from destruction, the violent force of the arrows left him writhing in pain, each hit causing him to spit blood.
At this rate, even if his meridians remained intact, the repeated trauma could kill him.
“Whoosh!” Another Annihilation Arrow surged forth. Liu Feng’s expression shifted—he resolved to stop merely enduring. With a surge of will, a golden flying sword appeared out of thin air, slashing directly at the arrow.
“Bang!”
The Annihilation Arrow’s energy shattered explosively under the sword’s strike.
“Excellent! Liu Feng’s flying sword is truly unmatched. Why didn’t he use it sooner?” Zhang Liang clapped his forehead, exclaiming loudly.
“That’s strange. Why didn’t he wield the flying sword before? He wasted so much strength coughing up blood,” Wang Xing puzzled.
“Perhaps he was honing himself,” Zhao Bochao’s eyes flickered thoughtfully.
“Likely. A martial artist can only unlock true potential through trials of life and death,” Zhao Jun said gravely.
Joy and worry mingled among the spectators.
On the special platform, Yang Zhi was frustrated. He hadn’t anticipated such a coveted flying sword in the hands of a nobody. It seemed his bet with Wang Bin was doomed.
“Ha! You all arrived late and didn’t know Liu Feng had a flying sword. Yang Zhi, you’re destined to lose this bet,” Wang Bin chuckled, delighting in Yang Zhi’s gloom.
“Hmph! Don’t get cocky. I’ve heard flying swords drain mental energy terribly. I doubt Liu Feng’s spirit power, as a Second Stage Yin-Yang Realm cultivator, is that strong,” Yang Zhi sneered, clinging to hope that Yang Rui could outlast Liu Feng’s spirit reserves.
But that hope was unfounded.
On the arena, Liu Feng maneuvered his flying sword with rapid precision. It streaked through the air, trailing a luminous golden arc like a divine dragon, relentlessly slicing at Yang Rui.
Soon, Yang Rui was covered in wounds, dozens of cuts gushing blood.
“Yang Rui, will you surrender? Keep this up and you’ll lose your life,” Liu Feng called out, unwilling to cause needless bloodshed. After all, there was no deep hatred between them.
“I’m not done yet! Rapid-fire Annihilation Arrows!” Yang Rui roared, unleashing a volley of white arrow energies toward Liu Feng.
“Foolish!” Liu Feng focused his spirit, directing the flying sword to slash through the incoming arrows with blistering speed.
“Bang! Bang!”
Explosions rang out as the flying sword shattered all the arrows in an instant, then lunged fiercely toward Yang Rui.
