“Yes, yes, we should leave here at once.”

Gao Zixi nodded in agreement while urging the students to gather their things and go.

She was not hurrying because she was afraid of trouble. She simply did not want her students to become entangled in it.

Although this fight had started because the other side had harassed one of the girls, the students from her class had nevertheless attacked as a group—and blood had been shed. If the matter were thoroughly investigated, they would inevitably bear some responsibility.

What was more, the men led by Young Master Lei clearly came from a powerful background. If they exerted pressure on the school and the police, or interfered behind the scenes, the students might suffer more than disciplinary action. They could even end up with a blemish on their records, affecting their futures.

That was the last thing Gao Zixi wanted.

So they had better leave—quickly.

Before long, led by Gao Zixi, the students of Senior Class One, Section Three, reached the lobby on the first floor of the KTV.

“Why don’t we go to another KTV and keep singing? I’m not done having fun yet.”

“Let’s get some late-night food instead. After that fight, I’m starving.”

The students were still in high spirits, and the earlier incident had not dampened their mood. They gathered in twos and threes, discussing what to do next.

Just then, twenty or thirty KTV security guards came rushing over. Dressed in uniforms and armed with batons, they blocked the students’ path.

“You guards are a little late, aren’t you?”

“Exactly! You only show up after everything’s over. What use are you, anyway?”

The students began criticizing the guards from all sides for dereliction of duty.

“Shut up!”

The security captain’s furious roar cut them off.

He raised the baton in his hand and pointed it at the students before him.

“Everyone, put your hands on your heads and squat down! No one is allowed to leave without permission! Hurry up—don’t force us to use these batons!”

What was going on?

The captain’s words stunned all the students.

They had assumed the guards had come to protect them. Now, however, it was obvious that was not the case.

The students were instantly enraged.

If there had not been so many guards, each armed with a baton, the students—whose blood was still running hot from the fight—would have already charged forward and battled them.

Though they did not act, their eyes burned with anger and indignation as they glared at the guards.

“On what grounds are you stopping us from leaving?” Tan Xiaoxiao demanded, glaring at the security captain.

“On what grounds?”

The security captain completely ignored the students’ fury. After giving a cold snort, he said, “On the grounds that you caused trouble without reason and assaulted people inside the KTV! We can’t possibly let you leave!”

“We caused trouble without reason?”

Every student from Senior Class One, Section Three, laughed in exasperation. Even their homeroom teacher, Gao Zixi, and the proud Lin Siyu were no exception.

Lin Siyu forcibly suppressed her anger and said, “That’s right, we hit someone. But that doesn’t mean we were causing trouble without reason! This all began when a man called Young Master Lei and his companions harassed the girls in our class. They were also the ones who started the fight. We were merely defending ourselves!”

As expected of the top student in the class, her argument was orderly and perfectly reasoned.

Unfortunately, the other side had no intention of listening.

The security captain waved his hand dismissively. “Young Master Lei and his friends harassed the girls? How come I didn’t see that? Enough nonsense. All I saw was you beating people. I didn’t see anything else!”

At that moment, every student understood.

These guards had not come to maintain order. They had come to stand up for Young Master Lei and the others!

The students’ anger surged even higher. They began glancing around from the corners of their eyes, searching for anything they could use as a weapon.

They had just finished one fight, and their blood was still hot. Even though the guards outnumbered them, they were not afraid.

Lin Siyu had always imitated her older sister, maintaining the aloof aura of an icy beauty. But now she was so furious that she could not help swearing.

“You didn’t see anything else? Are you freaking blind?”

“Did you just call me blind?” the security captain roared, flying into a rage. “Don’t think I won’t hit you just because you’re a woman!”

He raised his baton and swung it toward Lin Siyu.

“I’ll teach you a lesson right now—one you’ll never forget. Then you’ll learn how to behave!”

“Watch out!”

The students who saw what was happening hurriedly shouted a warning.

Bang!

The baton came down with a dull thud.

But it did not strike Lin Siyu. A hand that had suddenly reached out caught it instead.

The owner of that hand was Li Sichen.

“Huh?”

The security captain tried desperately to wrench the baton back, only to discover that Li Sichen’s grip was as strong as an iron vise. Even after using all his strength, he could not pull the baton free.

“That boy is incredibly strong!”

A trace of panic flashed across the captain’s face.

Li Sichen stared at him and said, each word deliberate, “Lin Siyu was right. You really are blind.”

Then he increased the force in his hand.

The baton was immediately torn from the captain’s grasp.

Li Sichen followed by raising his left hand and striking the man in the chest. The blow sent him stumbling backward two or three steps before he managed to regain his balance.

“You…”

The security captain instinctively wanted to curse and order his men to swarm the unruly students. But he had only just begun to speak when his tone changed in an instant—from furious to terrified. The rest of his words were completely different from what he had intended to say.

“W… what’s going on? Who the hell turned off the lights? Why did it suddenly become so dark?”

The lights had been turned off?

Hearing this, the guards, the students, and even the onlookers hiding in the distance all instinctively looked up at the crystal chandelier hanging in the lobby.

At that moment, the chandelier was shining brilliantly. There was no sign that it had been switched off. The KTV lobby was brightly lit as well, with nothing even remotely resembling darkness.

What was wrong with this security captain?

One of the guards spoke cautiously. “Captain Zou, what’s… what’s happened to you? No one turned off the lights. It’s clearly very bright in here.”

“No one turned off the lights? It’s bright?” Captain Zou was utterly frantic. “How is that possible? I’m clearly surrounded by darkness…”

He cried out repeatedly, “Could it be that I’m really blind? How could this happen? How could this happen?”

Blind?

Everyone froze once again.

Indeed, the captain’s reaction now looked exactly like that of a blind man.

But the question was, he had been perfectly fine just moments ago. How had he suddenly lost his sight?

Could it be…

As if by unspoken agreement, everyone turned their eyes toward Li Sichen.

Could this have been his doing?
