Chapter 121: Do You Think You Are a God?
“It was written all over your face,” Li Sichen replied.
As he said this, both his expression and tone were remarkably calm, as though it were nothing more than a trivial matter, hardly something worth boasting about.
Yet Yuan Yifei, Ouyang Long, and Fang Yi were all stunned when they heard him.
“Written all over her face?”
Ouyang Long and Fang Yi instinctively turned their eyes toward Yuan Yifei’s face. But on that beautiful face, all they could see was the flushed redness caused by the scorching heat and the soot-black stains left by the smoke.
“There’s clearly nothing there... Besides, how could an injury to her foot be seen from her face?”
The two firefighters were utterly confused, and Yuan Yifei’s face was filled with disbelief as well.
Li Sichen casually explained, “How could it not be seen? Take a careful look at the bridge of her nose. There’s clearly a faint bluish-purple discoloration there. The Plow and Harrow Classic says: ‘When the mountain root is broken, vital energy struggles to rise; when the kidneys are deficient and the sinews weak, even a spark may scorch them; when one falls or suffers an injury, the nose bears the misfortune.’ When an abnormality appears around the nose, it is often caused by a sprain or contusion to the limbs...”
Yuan Yifei, Ouyang Long, and Fang Yi were left completely bewildered by his explanation.
Ouyang Long and Fang Yi once again examined Yuan Yifei, but no matter how closely they looked, they could not find the conspicuous bluish-purple mark near the bridge of her nose that Li Sichen had mentioned.
Judging from Yuan Yifei’s reaction, however, it was obvious that Li Sichen’s diagnosis was correct.
And that was indeed the case.
Today, Yuan Yifei had come to a karaoke club with several friends from the entertainment industry to sing and relax. She had never expected to encounter a sudden fire.
When the flames broke out, her friends had fled in panic. While escaping, she twisted her ankle because of the high heels she was wearing. The pain was so severe that she could no longer walk, leaving her no choice but to retreat into the restroom of the private room and hide from the flames.
Fortunately, Li Sichen was well versed in feng shui and the occult arts. He had sensed the resentment she was emitting in her despair. Otherwise, she would certainly have been burned to death there.
After hearing Li Sichen’s explanation, Yuan Yifei curiously examined herself in the mirror inside the restroom.
She could not see anything either. “Is there really a bluish-purple mark around my nose? Why can’t I see it? Wait... That’s not right. You just said that an abnormality near the bridge of the nose indicates an injury to the hands or feet. But why did you immediately conclude that it was my foot rather than my hand?”
“You’re stating the obvious,” Li Sichen said, looking at Yuan Yifei as though she were an idiot. “When we came in, you were carrying a toilet tank lid filled with water. If your hand were injured, would you have been able to lift something that heavy?”
Yuan Yifei was extremely embarrassed, and her pretty face flushed.
Fortunately, her cheeks were already bright red from the scorching heat, so her embarrassment was not noticeable.
Li Sichen did not tease her. Instead, he turned around, crouched down, and glanced back at her.
“Get on.”
“Huh?” Yuan Yifei froze.
“What are you standing there for?” Li Sichen urged impatiently. “Get on quickly. I’ll carry you out. Hurry—the fire is getting worse by the minute. If we don’t leave now, we really won’t be able to get out!”
Although Yuan Yifei felt somewhat embarrassed, she knew the situation was urgent and there was no time for formalities or hesitation. She immediately stopped wasting time, climbed onto Li Sichen’s back, and let him carry her out of the restroom.
Ouyang Long and Fang Yi guarded Li Sichen from the front and rear.
Ouyang Long led the way. The moment he stepped out of the private room, he was forced to retreat. His expression grew grave.
“This is bad! The fire in the corridor is burning even more fiercely than when we came through. If we force our way through, we might be roasted alive before we even make it downstairs!”
Hearing this, Yuan Yifei, who had only just managed to regain a little composure, immediately panicked again.
“What do we do? Is there really no way for us to escape? No... I don’t want to die here!”
She was genuinely terrified, and her voice even carried a distinct tremor of tears.
Fang Yi’s expression also became solemn, but he maintained the composure expected of a firefighter and offered a suggestion.
“What about jumping out the window? We’re only on the second floor. It isn’t very high. As long as we’re careful when we jump, we should be able to avoid injury!”
Ouyang Long shook his head. “There probably aren’t any windows in this private room. In fact, the nearby rooms are likely the same. Most of them probably have no windows.”
Most karaoke clubs, due to considerations involving space, interior design, soundproofing, and various other factors, had private rooms without windows.
Such rooms might pose no problem under normal circumstances, but once a fire broke out, they became extremely dangerous.
“No windows? Then what do we do?”
Even Fang Yi, a professional, was now at a loss.
Ouyang Long thought for a moment, but he could come up with no better solution. He could only say, “It looks like forcing our way through is our only option. How about we go back to the restroom, soak ourselves completely with water, and then make a run for it? That should at least lessen the severity of the burns caused by the flames.”
“Wait!”
At that moment, Li Sichen suddenly spoke.
“Let me try.”
Fang Yi frowned. “Try what? Don’t tell me you have a way to put out the flames in the corridor or make them smaller. Forget it—don’t waste time. The longer we delay, the stronger the fire will become, and the more dangerous things will be for us!”
Li Sichen did not get angry at his doubt. Instead, he grinned.
“You’re right. I intend to make the fire in the corridor smaller.”
“W-what?” Fang Yi was stunned. He wondered whether he had misheard and hurriedly asked, “You mean you’re going to make the fire in the corridor smaller? Is that really possible? You’re not joking, are you?”
Li Sichen countered, “Do I look like the kind of person who would joke about something like this?”
“Well...”
Considering everything Li Sichen had done before, he truly did not seem like someone who would joke about serious matters. Although his earlier actions had appeared reckless, the outcome had ultimately proven that everything he did was correct.
It was just that what he had said now was simply too difficult to believe.
Make the fire in the corridor smaller?
If they had fire extinguishers or other firefighting equipment, there might still be some hope. But how could they possibly accomplish that with their bare hands?
Fang Yi was not the only one who remained skeptical. Ouyang Long and Yuan Yifei also found it hard to believe.
Make the fire smaller? How was that possible? Did he think he was a god?
