After the geography class ended, the students of Class Three, Grade Ten burst out of the classroom in a swarm, rushing toward the sports field.

The next period was physical education. Compared to subjects like Chinese, math, English, physics, and chemistry, PE was by far the most popular among the students. After all, adolescence is a time of exuberance and restless energy—no one wanted to be cooped up in a classroom all day, growing musty.

Once on the field, the students quickly split into groups.

Some produced a soccer ball and called their friends to start a match. Others dashed to the basketball courts, joining the fray with whoever was around… At this point, whether it was soccer or basketball, there weren't really any rules to follow—as long as no one was out to hurt anyone on purpose, anything went. They didn't even always have enough people for a proper match, so why worry about rules? As long as everyone was having fun, that was enough.

Most of those playing soccer or basketball were boys; even when girls joined in, they were only a handful. The majority of the girls played ping-pong, badminton, or similar activities. Of course, there was also a group of girls playing volleyball.

Tan Xiaoxiao and Lin Siyu were among those playing volleyball; in fact, they were the captain and vice-captain of Class Three's girls' volleyball team.

Not far away, Li Sicheng and Zeng Yi sat on the lawn, watching the scene unfold.

Zeng Yi was too overweight to want to move, while Li Sicheng simply had no interest in these sports.

Glancing over the lively field, Li Sicheng sighed, “I knew I made the right choice—school really is full of energy, brimming with the spirit of youth!”

“Full of energy? Absolutely… Just look at all that bouncing around, what a feast for the eyes!” Zeng Yi hadn’t really listened to what Li Sicheng said and responded absentmindedly.

His entire attention was fixed on the girls playing volleyball.

There were plenty of others on the field just like him.

After all, the girls playing volleyball were all quite attractive. And with Lin Siyu and Tan Xiaoxiao—two girls of goddess-like beauty—among them, it was impossible not to draw attention!

Moreover, with all the running and jumping, the girls’ chests heaved and undulated. For fifteen- and sixteen-year-old boys just entering adolescence, such a sight was downright lethal!

Li Sicheng, however, showed no interest. He only glanced over once before looking away. Then he pulled a tissue from his pocket and handed it to Zeng Yi. “Here.”

“What for?” Zeng Yi was first puzzled, then grew bashful and flustered. “This is the sports field, there are so many people around—no way I’d do that here…”

“Do what?” Li Sicheng was at a loss whether to laugh or cry. “Seriously, can you stop being so dirty-minded? I’m giving you a tissue to wipe your nosebleed, not for anything else! Haven’t you noticed your nose is bleeding nonstop?”

“Huh? Nosebleed?”

Zeng Yi reached under his nose and sure enough, his hand came away bloody.

“Oh, crap, why am I having a nosebleed? It must be the dry weather! Yes, that’s it, definitely the weather—it has nothing to do with watching the girls!”

He awkwardly made excuses for himself as he took the tissue from Li Sicheng, wiped his face, rolled the tissue into a ball, and stuffed it in his nose to staunch the bleeding.

Li Sicheng didn’t expose his lie. He stood up, patted the grass off his pants, and said, “Let’s go.”

“Go where?” Zeng Yi asked, puzzled.

With the tissue stuffed up his nose, he looked ridiculous.

“Where else? It’s time to gather. Didn’t you see? The PE teacher’s here.” Li Sicheng pointed ahead.

Zeng Yi scrambled up from the grass, curiosity piqued. “Hey, you only started here today—how do you already know our PE teacher, Mr. Gu?”

Li Sicheng shook his head. “I don’t know him.”

Zeng Yi was even more confused. “Then how did you know he’s our PE teacher?”

Li Sicheng didn’t even look back as he replied, “Isn’t it obvious? We’re all around fifteen or sixteen, and he’s the only one who looks about forty—clearly a teacher. Plus, he’s in sportswear, with a whistle and stopwatch around his neck. What other teacher would dress like that except the PE teacher?”

Zeng Yi was still doubtful. “That just means he’s a PE teacher, but there’s more than one class having PE on the field right now. How do you know he’s ours and not another class’s?”

“Are you an idiot?” Li Sicheng finally turned back to glare at him. “The moment he stepped onto the field, he had our class’s PE monitor call everyone to assemble. If I couldn’t figure out his identity from that, I’d be blind.”

“So that’s how you knew who Mr. Gu was? I thought you had some supernatural ability to see through people,” Zeng Yi muttered.

At the PE monitor’s call and the shrill whistle of Mr. Gu, the students of Class Three, Grade Ten quickly gathered from across the field and stood in formation.

When the roll call was over, Mr. Gu shouted, “At ease!” and then explained the day’s PE lesson: “Today, we’ll practice long-distance running—boys, twelve hundred meters; girls, eight hundred meters. After you finish, those who meet the standard can do whatever you like. If you don’t make the cut, you’ll be training with me. Long-distance running is a required component of the PE exam, after all!”

At these words, the class instantly erupted in groans:

“Long-distance running? No way!”

“Twelve hundred meters? That’ll kill me!”

“Please, Mr. Gu, spare us the run today, just let us have free activities!”

Unfortunately, Mr. Gu paid no attention to their complaints or pleas, directing the PE monitor to lead everyone in warm-up stretches so their bodies would be ready and they wouldn’t get hurt during the run.

A few minutes later, with warm-ups complete, Mr. Gu led everyone onto the track, whistle at the ready to give the starting command.

By chance, Li Sicheng ended up assigned to start beside Lin Siyu.

He glanced at Lin Siyu, thoughtful. Then he leaned over and asked in all seriousness, “Hey, are you sure you don’t want me to help you lift that ominous sign?”

“You… You shameless creep!” Lin Siyu’s face turned bright red.

She truly hadn’t expected Li Sicheng to be so bold as to tease her in front of everyone!

Clearly, she had once again misunderstood the word “ominous sign” as “bra”…
