Chapter 120: How Miraculous
While the two firefighters stood momentarily stunned, Li Sichen had already dashed toward the source of the cries for help: the restroom of the private suite.
Although the crackling roar of the fire within the suite made it difficult to pinpoint the exact location of the cries and the banging, this was no obstacle for Li Sichen, whose hearing was exceptionally sharp.
Ouyang Long and Fang Yi quickly regained their composure and followed closely behind him to the restroom door.
It was evident that the door had originally been locked from the inside, but the intense heat of the fire had caused it to warp, jamming it firmly into the frame. This was likely why the victim had been limited to banging on the door rather than escaping immediately.
Ouyang Long and Fang Yi risked being burned as they tried to force the door open. They shoved and collided against it several times, but it merely shuddered; it would not budge.
Hearing the attempts to open the door, the person trapped inside cried out urgently, "Save me! Please, you must save me! Don't leave me behind!"
Judging by the voice, the victim was a young woman. She was in a state of extreme panic; her voice was not only trembling but also laced with sobs. She was clearly terrified by the sudden outbreak of the fire.
Li Sichen called out to comfort her, "Don't worry, we will definitely get you out. Try to stay calm."
At that moment, Ouyang Long frowned and whispered, "The door is jammed tight. We can't push it open; we need another way to break through."
They kept their voices low, fearing that the victim—who was already on the verge of a nervous breakdown—would lose all hope if she realized how difficult it was to open the door.
Fang Yi suggested, "I'll go see if there's a fire axe outside to hack the door open." He turned to leave, intent on finding one.
"Wait, let me try," Li Sichen stopped him. He signaled for Ouyang Long to move aside, stepped back a few paces, and then suddenly surged forward. As he reached the burning door, he tilted his body slightly and slammed his shoulder and back into the jammed wood.
Boom!
A violent crashing sound erupted, deafening like a clap of summer thunder. Under the force of the impact, the door that Ouyang Long and Fang Yi had been unable to move was shattered into pieces by Li Sichen’s strike.
"What incredible strength!" Fang Yi stared in disbelief.
Ouyang Long’s eyes lit up as he exclaimed, "That move—it’s clearly the 'Iron Mountain Lean' from Baji Quan! Not only are you well-versed in firefighting, but you’re also a master of martial arts? But to execute an 'Iron Mountain Lean' with such power requires decades of arduous training! How old are you? Fifteen or sixteen at most? How did you master this move?"
As the saying goes, the layman watches the spectacle, while the expert watches the technique. Fang Yi, knowing nothing of martial arts, only saw the raw force of the strike. Ouyang Long, however, recognized the move instantly, which made his shock even greater.
"You know Baji Quan too?" Li Sichen glanced back at him.
"I’ve dabbled in it," Ouyang Long replied. In truth, he was quite proficient in the style, but in the presence of someone like Li Sichen, he wouldn't dare claim any expertise.
"No wonder you recognized the technique," Li Sichen nodded. He didn't dwell on the subject and strode into the restroom.
Though curious about how someone so young had reached such a high level of mastery, Ouyang Long knew this was not the time for such questions. He and Fang Yi rushed into the restroom after him.
Compared to the suite, the fire inside the restroom was less intense, likely because the warped door had acted as a temporary barrier against the flames. However, while the fire hadn't spread inside, the heat was still scorching.
Standing in the room was a young woman in her early twenties. She was holding a toilet tank lid filled with water. Before they had arrived, she had been using it to scoop water from the sink and splash it against the door to cool it down and delay the flames.
Li Sichen remained calm upon seeing her, but Ouyang Long and Fang Yi were stunned.
The more impulsive Fang Yi blurted out, "You... you're Yuan Yifei, aren't you?"
"What? You know her? Are you friends?" Li Sichen asked with a hint of surprise.
To his astonishment, Ouyang Long and Fang Yi asked in unison, "You don't know who she is?"
Li Sichen asked, puzzled, "Why would I know her?"
Fang Yi replied, "Because she's Yuan Yifei! One of the four most popular young actresses in the country right now! She just starred in a hit teen idol drama that's been airing on every channel. How can you not know her?"
Ouyang Long nodded vigorously. "Yuan Yifei is a famous 'goddess' among netizens, the crush of every young man. How can you not recognize her? Tell me... do you never watch television?"
Li Sichen nodded, "You're right about that. I rarely watch TV, let alone dramas." He then turned to Yuan Yifei and said, "Put down the lid; we need to get out of here immediately!"
Seeing rescuers had arrived, the terror on Yuan Yifei's face had faded significantly. However, upon hearing Li Sichen's words, she gave a bitter smile and replied, "I... I can't walk."
"Why? Are you too scared? It's alright, we are professionals; we will definitely get you out of this fire safely. You don't need to be afraid!" As Fang Yi said this, he glanced nervously at Li Sichen, feeling a sense of inadequacy. Compared to Li Sichen, they—the professional firefighters—seemed anything but professional.
Fortunately, Li Sichen didn't nitpick. Or perhaps, he simply didn't care what they said.
"Are you injured?" After scanning her face for a moment, Li Sichen frowned and asked, "Did you sprain your left ankle?"
"You... how did you know?" Yuan Yifei gasped in surprise, her eyes wide. She couldn't fathom how this young boy knew about her injury before she had even said a word, and with such precision. It was almost supernatural!
