Chapter 118: Shocked? This Is Just the Beginning
After several attempts, not even a slight movement came from Li Sicheng.
With no other option, Fang Yi had to call for Ouyang Long’s help. “Captain Ouyang, come quickly! I can’t pull him alone!”
“What?” Ouyang Long was taken aback, utterly astonished.
He knew well the strength of Fang Yi. If he didn’t know that Fang Yi would never joke under such circumstances, he might have thought he was being played with.
Ouyang Long quickly stepped forward and grabbed Li Sicheng’s shoulder from the other side. Yet no matter how hard the two of them pulled, Li Sicheng’s body remained immovable.
It was as if his feet had taken root, growing firmly into the ground.
“How is this possible?” Ouyang Long was stunned.
He simply could not believe that the seemingly frail Li Sicheng could possess such immense strength. Despite their rigorous training as firefighters, they could not budge him an inch.
Li Sicheng was completely oblivious to Ouyang Long and Fang Yi grasping his shoulders. His full attention was fixed on the pattern he was drawing on the ground.
Because they couldn’t drag Li Sicheng away, Ouyang Long’s gaze involuntarily fell on the design he was sketching. “Huh? Since when did this kid have a brush in his hand? And he’s squatting in the middle of the fire drawing? What’s going on here?”
Fang Yi saw this too and immediately made a judgment. “Captain Ouyang, I think this kid has got something wrong with his head!”
In truth, his judgment was not without reason.
If his mind were clear, how could he be so reckless as to charge into a blazing inferno without any proof that someone was trapped inside? And how could he ignore the roaring flames around him, fully focused on drawing strange, incomprehensible patterns?
Ouyang Long agreed with Fang Yi’s assessment.
But regardless of Li Sicheng’s mental state, they had to rescue him.
It was their duty as firefighters.
“Call for backup! There’s no way the two of us can drag him out alone. We’ll need more people!” Ouyang Long decided and reached for the walkie-talkie on his uniform to call for reinforcements.
“Finished drawing!” At that moment, Li Sicheng tucked the cinnabar brush into his satchel and said in a low voice.
Seeing this, Ouyang Long paused his attempt to call for reinforcements and instead said to Li Sicheng, “It’s no time for drawing in the middle of a fire. Come with us now!”
He assumed that since Li Sicheng had finished drawing, he might come to his senses. Perhaps a few words of persuasion would convince him to leave with them, sparing their comrades from risking their lives charging into the inferno.
Li Sicheng did not reply. Instead, he pressed his right hand firmly onto the cinnabar pattern on the ground.
Boom!
The surrounding flames surged immediately.
The terrifying blaze swept forward, startling even the seasoned firefighters Ouyang Long and Fang Yi, who instinctively dodged to the side.
Li Sicheng, however, remained calm.
Facing the raging flames, he did not retreat but charged directly into them.
“Where are you going? Come back!” Ouyang Long and Fang Yi shouted anxiously.
“I’ve found the trapped person’s location. I’m going to rescue him now! You two get out first!” Li Sicheng said without looking back.
“Found the trapped person?” Both firefighters showed disbelief.
Fang Yi, more impatient, openly challenged, “What a joke! Even if someone really was trapped in this fire, there’s no way you’d find their location by scribbling some random pattern on the ground!”
He didn’t know that the pattern Li Sicheng had drawn was a “Dragon-seeking Talisman.”
This talisman is typically used to locate feng shui treasures, functioning like a compass for geomancers. Beyond measuring feng shui, it can also be used to find people.
Because every person carries their own feng shui and magnetic field, especially those in despair who emit strong negative energy or resentment. The talisman can pinpoint their direction.
Ouyang Long, naturally unaware of this, said only, “Enough talk. Let’s follow him and pull him out of the fire!”
Fang Yi smiled wryly. “Captain Ouyang, didn’t you just try? This kid is a mystery—he looks weak but is incredibly strong. Even if we follow, we won’t be able to pull him!”
Ouyang Long ran after Li Sicheng without hesitation. “Whether we can pull him or not, we must follow! As firefighters, saving lives is our sacred duty! We can’t just stand by if someone’s in danger.”
“If we get out alive today, I swear I’m going to give this reckless kid a good beating! Even if it means breaking the rules!” Fang Yi muttered, gritting his teeth, then chased after them.
Darting through the towering flames, Li Sicheng glanced back at the two firefighters following him. He frowned slightly and said, “I told you two to get out first. Why are you still following? Fine, whatever. But be careful and don’t cause me trouble. I don’t want to have to save you while rescuing the trapped person.”
Fang Yi, already simmering with anger, was instantly enraged by these words.
What a joke!
We are professional firefighters—how could we possibly cause you trouble? It’s clearly you who keeps making things difficult for us!
Seething, he was about to curse when Li Sicheng suddenly shouted, “Run to the right! Quickly!”
Run to the right? Why?
Fang Yi was stunned, swallowing the curse he had on the tip of his tongue.
Before he could react, Ouyang Long grabbed him and ran to the right as instructed.
For some reason, upon hearing Li Sicheng’s shout, the first image that popped into Ouyang Long’s mind was the earlier explosion in the lobby, where Li Sicheng had warned them to dodge the blast.
So he didn’t hesitate to obey, dragging the stunned Fang Yi along.
Boom!
Just as they ran to the right, the ceiling above collapsed, crashing onto the floor and sending a wave of fiery inferno surging out.
“Gasp…”
Both firefighters drew a sharp breath.
If Li Sicheng hadn’t warned them, the burning ceiling would have fallen on their heads. Even with helmets, the flames would have instantly engulfed them.
After catching their breath, Ouyang Long and Fang Yi were stunned. “No way. Could this kid really predict where dangers in the fire would appear? He’s just a student—how could he be more professional than us seasoned firefighters? This… this is unbelievable!”
But what shocked them most was yet to come.
This was only the beginning…
