Chapter 128: The Divine Crow's Curse
“Director Wang, you can’t do this!” Ouyang Long was truly angry. He never expected that just because the KTV general manager said a word, Wang Guotao would insist on taking Li Sicheng back to the police station for investigation—and with handcuffs on, no less!
Even if Li Sicheng was a suspect, there was no reason to handcuff him!
This wasn’t an invitation to assist with the investigation; it was as if they were treating Li Sicheng like an arsonist!
“Captain Ouyang, your firefighters are responsible for putting out fires. How we police officers conduct ourselves is none of your concern! Xiao Liu, what are you waiting for? Should I personally arrest him?” Wang Guotao snorted coldly, showing no respect to Ouyang Long at all.
“Let’s see who dares to make an arrest!” Ouyang Long took a step forward, positioning himself in front of Li Sicheng.
Wang Guotao raised an eyebrow. “Captain Ouyang, please do not obstruct our law enforcement!”
Ouyang Long wanted to say more, but Li Sicheng stepped out from behind him.
Despite the unfavorable situation, there was no trace of panic on his face; instead, he wore a faint, amused smile.
“Captain Ouyang, you don’t need to worry about me anymore. Go put out the fire—that’s the urgent matter. As for the police station, well, I might as well go and have a little visit. But I wonder if Director Wang here can remain so calm once I’m inside. Also, I have a word of warning: I’ll go to the station, but getting me out won’t be so easy.”
Wang Guotao raised his eyebrows.
What did that mean? A threat? Could this kid really have powerful backing?
He couldn’t help but scrutinize Li Sicheng from head to toe.
Cheng Peng noticed and lowered his voice. “Director Wang, rest assured, this kid is just an ordinary person. Look at his clothes—they’re all cheap imitations, barely worth a hundred yuan. Someone like that couldn’t possibly have any big connections.”
Wang Guotao nodded in approval.
He knew quite a few influential people—some liked to keep a low profile, but no matter how low-key, none would wear counterfeit goods. That would be disgraceful.
“Hmph, young and arrogant! Let’s see if you’re still so cocky once you’re at the station!” Wang Guotao sneered inwardly and urged his officers to handcuff Li Sicheng and take him away.
Seeing the police approach Li Sicheng, Cheng Peng felt a surge of satisfaction and couldn’t help but laugh aloud.
“Kid, didn’t you threaten me before, saying I’d be doomed and have no peace? Now, tell me, who’s the one having a bad time? Hope someone remembers to bring you meals in the station! Hahaha…”
---
“Ah…” Li Sicheng suddenly sighed.
Hearing this, Cheng Peng laughed even harder. “Now you’re scared? Too late!”
Li Sicheng shook his head. “My sigh isn’t from fear; it’s pity—for you.”
“Pity me?” Cheng Peng was taken aback. He couldn’t understand what there was to pity about him.
Li Sicheng nodded solemnly. “Yes, pity you. Because your misfortune is about to come.”
“Hmph, still denying it when death is near!” Cheng Peng spat, not believing a word. He thought Li Sicheng was just lashing out in anger.
Since the police were about to take Li Sicheng away, Cheng Peng saw no reason to linger. His injuries were severe and needed urgent hospital treatment. After mocking Li Sicheng once more, he turned to the two medical staff by the stretcher. “Get me onto the ambulance!”
Though the medical workers despised Cheng Peng’s character, he was still a patient, so they carefully lifted the stretcher, preparing to move him to the ambulance.
But then, something unexpected happened.
With a sudden ripping sound, the fabric of the stretcher tore apart. Cheng Peng, lying on it, fell to the ground, sprawling awkwardly.
“Ahh—” he screamed in agony.
Already suffering from severe trampling and burn wounds, this fall aggravated his pain immensely, causing him to grimace in torment.
The medical staff were stunned.
The stretcher’s fabric was made from high-strength canvas, renowned for its toughness. It could easily support more than one person and was nearly impossible to tear, even with a knife.
Yet now, this supposedly indestructible canvas had ripped…
An extraordinarily rare and unlikely event had just befallen Cheng Peng. His luck was truly abysmal!
The onlookers were first stunned, then burst into laughter.
“No way—the student just said this guy was going to have bad luck, and he immediately wrecks the stretcher and falls? That’s some fast bad luck!”
“Wow, is this the legendary jinx? I’m learning something new today!”
---
“Whatever you say happens—this is incredible! Bro, tell me which numbers will win the lottery tomorrow?”
Lying on the ground, Cheng Peng could no longer care about the pain; his face had turned red with embarrassment from everyone’s laughter.
Fortunately, there was more than one stretcher in the ambulance. Soon, the medical staff brought a new one, testing it carefully to ensure no issues before placing Cheng Peng on it again.
This time, the stretcher held firm, and he was successfully loaded into the ambulance.
As the ambulance started, sirens blaring, ready to leave, something inexplicable happened.
The rear door, which had been closed, suddenly swung open on its own. Due to inertia, Cheng Peng lying on the stretcher was violently thrown out of the ambulance…
Bang!
He hit the ground again, this time harder, and lost consciousness with his eyes rolling back.
Everyone was dumbfounded.
One accident might be a coincidence, but two in a row? Could that still be mere chance?
What on earth was going on? Could this kid really be cursed with a supernatural jinx?
The same question crossed everyone’s minds.
Was Cheng Peng’s streak of misfortune just bad luck, or was it a curse brought on by Li Sicheng’s jinx?
A curse?
Could such a legendary thing really exist?
