Chapter 125: This Kid Is a Monster

Several firefighters closest to the blaze immediately rushed over to Li Sicheng and the others. They sprayed water over them to bring down their body temperatures while checking for burns and scalds.
After a quick examination, the firefighters were all astonished.
There was not the slightest sign of burns or scalds on Li Sicheng and the others. The only evidence that they had just emerged from the inferno was their hair, singed into curls by the raging flames.
It simply defied all logic!
Even as they marveled, the firefighters praised them one after another. “That fire was enormous, and you were inside for so long, yet you don’t have a single burn or scald—and you even rescued the trapped victim… Captain Ouyang, you’re incredible! No wonder you’re one of the finest officers in the Yongcheng City Fire and Rescue Detachment!”
Ouyang Long was among the strongest and most renowned members of the Yongcheng City Fire and Rescue Detachment. Every year, during the provincial and municipal firefighting exercises, the fire brigade he led consistently ranked near the top.
Thus, when the firefighters saw Li Sicheng and the others emerge from the sea of flames unharmed, they instinctively assumed that everything had been accomplished through Ouyang Long’s efforts.
Hearing his comrades’ praise, Ouyang Long’s face immediately reddened. He hurriedly waved his hands and denied it. “No, no, no! You’ve misunderstood. This wasn’t my doing!”
He pointed at Li Sicheng and said loudly, “We were able to make it out alive entirely because of him! If he hadn’t warned and guided us along the way, Fang Yi and I would have died in that fire long ago. There’s no way we could have made it out alive! He was also the one who located and rescued the trapped victim. Fang Yi and I didn’t help at all, so we certainly can’t take the credit.”
“What?”
Ouyang Long’s words shocked the firefighters once again.
They looked at Li Sicheng, then at Ouyang Long, their faces filled with confusion and disbelief.
Professional firefighters had escaped a blazing inferno by following the guidance of a student?
What kind of joke was this?
Had he gotten it backward?

An impatient firefighter immediately voiced his doubts. “Captain Ouyang, are you joking with us? This kid looks no older than fifteen or sixteen. It’s already impressive if he didn’t hold you back. How could he possibly have given you warnings and guidance? You and Fang Yi are highly experienced professional firefighters!”
The moment he finished speaking, many of the other firefighters chimed in.
“That’s right! The two of you are among the best in the Yongcheng City Fire and Rescue Detachment. How could you possibly need guidance from someone else?”
“If you said that you were guiding someone else, I’d believe you. But to say that someone guided you—and that person is a fifteen- or sixteen-year-old student—I absolutely refuse to believe it!”
Fang Yi spoke up at that moment. “Captain Ouyang really isn’t lying to you. He and I truly relied on this student’s warnings and guidance to avoid danger time and again. In the end, he even found a way to bring in a huge amount of water and temporarily suppress the fire inside the KTV. That was the only reason we were able to make it out alive. If not for him, you’d probably have been left to collect our bodies after putting out the fire.”
It had only been ten or twenty minutes since Fang Yi first met Li Sicheng. Yet in that brief span of time, his attitude toward Li Sicheng had changed from contempt, disdain, and disbelief into respect, admiration, and even worship.
That was precisely why, upon hearing his comrades question Li Sicheng, Fang Yi’s hot temper immediately flared. He hurriedly stepped forward to defend and vouch for him.
Many of the firefighters knew Fang Yi’s temperament well.
He was a proud man. Throughout the entire Yongcheng City Fire and Rescue Detachment, there were only two or three people he truly admired and respected. Yet this same proud man was now showing unreserved admiration for a fifteen- or sixteen-year-old student…
Something was seriously off!
Could Fang Yi’s brain have been burned in the fire?
The firefighters present were stunned once again.
Good grief. In the span of just a few minutes, they had already been shocked three times in a row.
Fortunately, they were firefighters with excellent physical constitutions. Otherwise, their hearts truly might not have been able to withstand such successive shocks…
“Captain Ouyang, Fang Yi, what exactly is going on? Are you saying that this student knows more about firefighting than the two of you?” After standing there in a daze for a moment, one firefighter could no longer suppress his astonishment and curiosity and asked the question.

Ouyang Long nodded. “His knowledge of firefighting is far beyond ours—not just by a little, either… Let me put it this way: if his ability is at the level of a university student, then the two of us can only be considered kindergarteners—and not even the senior class.”
“My God! Is this kid really human? He’s a complete monster!”
The firefighters’ mouths fell open, and for a long while, none of them could close them.
If they had not known Ouyang Long and Fang Yi’s personalities and character so well, they would certainly have suspected that the two men were exaggerating. But now, apart from marveling that Li Sicheng was a monster, they could think of nothing else to say.
“You’re absolutely right. This kid really is a monster!” Fang Yi nodded emphatically, wholeheartedly agreeing with his comrades’ assessment.
He could not help recalling the scene of Li Sicheng summoning a massive surge of water to extinguish the raging flames…
It had been truly astonishing, so incredible that it seemed utterly unbelievable!
Anyone capable of doing something like that had to be a monster.
“What are you standing around talking for? I need to find the detachment commander right away. No matter what, I’m going to persuade him to hire this young student as a consultant for the Yongcheng City Fire and Rescue Detachment! And if we can get him to teach us some real skills, that would be even better!”
As he spoke, Ouyang Long hurried toward the command vehicle.
He did not expect to learn from Li Sicheng the miraculous ability to summon a vast amount of water and extinguish a raging fire. He would be satisfied with learning one or two techniques for anticipating danger. With such skills, the firefighters would have an extra measure of safety, whether rescuing people from a sea of flames or saving themselves.
Just then, a middle-aged woman in the crowd recognized Yuan Yifei on Li Sicheng’s back.
She froze for a moment, then cried out in astonishment, “It’s Feifei! It really is Feifei! My God, she was still inside the fire this whole time. No wonder we searched everywhere and couldn’t find her… Thank goodness someone rescued her. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable!”
The middle-aged woman was none other than Yuan Yifei’s manager, Sister Ying.
