107 Escape

Haitong City, inside a residential complex.
Black Hawk and Red Scorpion, who came from Jingdu, were staying here.
They had been living here for a week, but Wang Sheng still hadn’t found out where Lin Qi was.
There was no choice—after all, Wang Sheng was a leader with a busy official schedule. He could only spare some time after work to gather information. Lin Qi had always been careful with secrecy, and since no longer working at Jinyang Group, there was simply no way to trace him.
With millions of people in Haitong City, it was like searching for a needle in a haystack.
Black Hawk and Red Scorpion spent their days idly; apart from eating, they just watched TV, both gaining several pounds.
Black Hawk was a bit better; he would go out every day hoping to run into Lin Qi by chance.
Red Scorpion mocked him, calling it a futile effort.
That night, Red Scorpion was watching TV at home when Black Hawk suddenly pushed open the door, rushing in with urgency: “Lin Qi has appeared!”
Red Scorpion jumped up from the bed: “Where?”
Black Hawk said, “Based on what we knew before, Song Qingzhu is the president of Jinyang Group. Such a large corporation is all here; he couldn’t have gone far. But I still didn’t trust her. Every night I would go by her place to see if she met Lin Qi, or to watch if she tried to escape... But tonight, someone suddenly attacked Song Qingzhu...”
Black Hawk recounted the events of the evening.
“So in the end, Lin Qi saved Song Qingzhu?!” Red Scorpion was very excited. “What happened next? Did you follow them?”
They were not surprised by the attack on Song Qingzhu; the business world was like a battlefield, and some underworld conflict was normal.
Black Hawk said, “Lin Qi appeared so suddenly and left so fast that I didn’t have time to follow... But I did get the license plate number.”
“Good, notify Wang Sheng immediately and have him check that car!” Red Scorpion said decisively.
Haitong City, on the street.
Lin Qi was driving wildly, carrying Song Qingzhu along the way.

Soon, he turned into an alley.
After driving a few hundred meters down the alley, he stopped and told Song Qingzhu to get out.
Not far away, a white Volkswagen was parked.
Lin Qi approached the white Volkswagen, took out the prepared gasoline from inside, and poured it all over the black Mercedes.
He pulled Song Qingzhu away from the black Mercedes, then tossed a windproof lighter toward it.
“Whoosh—”
The black Mercedes quickly burst into flames, then exploded with a loud boom.
The two then got into the white Volkswagen and drove out of the alley.
Lin Qi drove for more than ten minutes, then turned into another alley.
He repeated the process, burning the white Volkswagen and switching to a Wuling van.
“This way, no one should be able to track us,” Lin Qi said as he drove the nearly falling-apart van along the main road, carrying Song Qingzhu.
Song Qingzhu said nothing, leaning against the passenger window, her expression and eyes somewhat vacant.
“You really should have run earlier, knowing they wanted to kill you tonight,” Lin Qi said, gripping the steering wheel, shaking his head with a sigh.
“You can’t run…” Song Qingzhu shook her head.
“But you ran tonight, didn’t you? Do you think they can find us now?” Lin Qi said disdainfully.
“You can’t run…” Song Qingzhu repeated, “You don’t understand how powerful they are. No matter where I hide, they will find me!”
Lin Qi didn’t doubt her words.
The president of Jinyang Group was under their control; if they said kill, it would happen. She was no ordinary person.

Still, Lin Qi said, “Don’t be discouraged. If we can’t stay in Haitong City, we’ll go to other cities. A living person can’t be killed by holding in their pee, right? I refuse to believe their power spreads across the entire Great Xia!”
Song Qingzhu said faintly, “Their influence really does reach across the entire Great Xia.”
Lin Qi gasped, then grew quietly excited.
That strong? Spanning the whole Great Xia?
If I could use that power, revenge shouldn’t be hard, right?
When did such a force exist in this country? How come I never knew?
A series of questions popped into Lin Qi’s mind, but he couldn’t keep asking like a curious child. Pretending to be casual and calm, he said, “What kind of force is it? That strong?”
For such a simple question, Song Qingzhu didn’t answer, only saying faintly, “Lin Qi, thank you for tonight, but you can’t help me. You should stop here; don’t get yourself involved.”
Lin Qi snapped back, “I borrowed people from Black Bear, risked my life to rescue you, and you say that? Isn’t that ungrateful?”
Song Qingzhu blushed, “Who… who’s ungrateful? Don’t say nonsense...”
“You’re ungrateful…” Lin Qi suddenly realized the phrase was too crude for a woman and quickly corrected himself: “You’re leaving just like that—that’s like burning bridges and forgetting favors, isn’t it?”
“I’m not leaving because I want to; you can’t help me. They’re coming!”
“Who says that? I have a place where they definitely can’t find us!”
Lin Qi floored the accelerator and sped off.
