Fists flying and feet kicking
Manager Zhao has been fired!
The news spread through the branch office like it had wings. Every department was abuzz with discussion, and of course, it reached Luo Feifei's ears as well.
“So it’s really true! My brother-in-law’s information is always spot-on…” Sitting at her desk, Luo Feifei found herself in awe of Lin Qi yet again. At the same time, she was delighted—finally, she no longer had to face the torment of “choosing between the two.”
In truth, Luo Feifei wasn’t the only one pleased; there was someone else who was thrilled.
Supervisor Wang.
With Manager Zhao’s seat now vacant, every supervisor saw a chance, and Supervisor Wang was certainly among the top contenders! He had been recuperating in the hospital, but upon hearing the news, he hurried to the office without delay. Though his injuries hadn’t fully healed—bandages still wrapped around his head and body—this was precisely the effect he wanted. He wanted the company leaders to see his dedication, that even a serious injury couldn’t keep him from the front lines!
He was determined to seize the manager’s position!
To show his commitment, Supervisor Wang not only completed his own tasks but also personally supervised his subordinates’ work. Limping around the office, he went from desk to desk, offering earnest advice to each colleague.
Soon, he arrived at Luo Feifei’s workstation.
“Feifei, there’s a problem with this design…” Supervisor Wang pointed at her computer screen, patiently explaining, his spittle flying as he spoke.
On the surface, Luo Feifei nodded repeatedly, but inwardly, she was rolling her eyes—Supervisor Wang’s comments made no sense whatsoever. Given his previous disgraceful conduct, she found him even more intolerable now and wished she could simply kick him away.
But Supervisor Wang’s mind was elsewhere.
Standing behind Luo Feifei, inhaling her delicate fragrance, he felt utterly intoxicated.
She was stunning—truly the most beautiful woman in the entire design department, perhaps even the whole branch office!
He still longed to win her over…
In the past, he hadn’t dared make a move, but now, the opportunity had arrived.
Supervisor Wang swallowed hard, pretending to offer guidance as he slowly leaned closer, his arms nearly encircling her shoulders.
At that very moment, the office door was suddenly kicked open, and two men in black stormed in like a gust of wind.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!
The two men took turns, raining punches and kicks on Supervisor Wang, leaving him battered and barely conscious.
It was those two again!
Terrified, Luo Feifei shrank back, and the rest of the office erupted in screams and panic. The two men in black came and went in a flash; after finishing their work, they vanished as swiftly as they’d arrived.
By the time security rushed in, there was no trace of them.
Supervisor Wang lay on the floor, barely alive, blood bubbling from his mouth.
What on earth was happening?
Who had he offended?
Supervisor Wang could only wail in silent agony.
After Manager Zhao’s dismissal, his seat was quickly filled—not by someone promoted from within, but by a new manager parachuted in from headquarters.
The new manager’s surname was Bu. His very first act was to make Luo Feifei a permanent employee and promote her to supervisor of the design department.
As for Supervisor Wang, due to repeated hospitalizations and prolonged absences, he was summarily dismissed.
Once she became a supervisor, Manager Bu called Luo Feifei in for a serious conversation.
“Your promotion is a directive from headquarters. I’ve reviewed your performance—it’s clear you’re qualified for the job. But to go from intern straight to supervisor, that’s unprecedented. So I’m guessing Lin Qi is involved.”
“Everyone knows Lin Qi once saved President Tang’s life. I have no objection to your promotion, but let me be clear: Lin Qi’s favor won’t last forever. Sooner or later, even the best connections run out.”
“I detest favoritism more than anything. If you fail to deliver results, I’ll demote you without hesitation. Not even President Tang’s influence will help you—unless he wants to replace me as manager.”
“I want only the best on my team, not dead weight!”
Manager Bu was unyielding.
Luo Feifei responded with equal determination. “Rest assured, Manager Bu. I will not let you down!”
“Get to work, then!”
“Yes, sir!”
The first person Luo Feifei thanked after her promotion was Lin Qi.
But Lin Qi flatly denied any involvement, insisting he hadn’t spoken to Tang Long.
“My favor has long since been used up. Where you are today is thanks to your own hard work,” he said.
He wasn’t lying—he had told Tang Long from the beginning not to give Luo Feifei any special treatment.
Luo Feifei’s promotion had come through the proper channels; her outstanding performance had compelled headquarters to make an exception.
News of her advancement quickly reached Luo Yingying, and soon after, her parents as well.
Naturally, they saw it as further proof that Lin Qi was beneath their daughter.
Now that she was earning three hundred thousand a year, how could her future be ruined by a deliveryman?
They tried every means to persuade Luo Feifei to return home.
But she refused.
“I will never be separated from my brother-in-law!” Luo Feifei declared, her voice firm and resolute.
