Sun Xiaoyun left—so quietly it was as if she had never been there at all.

Lin Qi showed no reaction whatsoever.

He was like a block of thousand-year-old ice, forever unmoved, forever indifferent to the world.

He continued his routine: going to work, delivering orders, living each day as uneventful as water.

At least, when he dragged his weary body home at night, there was a gentle and understanding girl to talk with, bringing a trace of solace to his desolate heart.

Luo Feifei’s parents did not force her to return home. In their eyes, Lin Qi was Tang Long’s savior; with such a powerful backer, it was only a matter of time before he would soar to new heights.

But one day, Luo Feifei’s eldest uncle came to visit, saying his son wanted a job at Longyue Group, and hoped Lin Qi could ask Tang Long to put in a good word.

Lin Qi refused without hesitation. “President Tang fulfilled my wish by hosting our wedding. The debt between us is settled. I can’t ask him for anything more—this was our agreement.”

That single sentence was like poking a hornet’s nest.

The uncle went home and exaggerated the story; soon, the entire Luo family was in an uproar.

So Lin Qi was useless now!

What future could Luo Feifei possibly have with a food deliveryman?

Her parents were furious and called Feifei on the spot, demanding she come home.

But Feifei refused, saying her life was none of their concern.

Her parents wanted to go to Lin Qi’s home and confront him, but did not dare. They had seen Lin Qi’s skills—he was a little frightening.

So, they instructed Luo Yingying to find a solution.

After all, Luo Yingying was the most capable person in the whole family.

Previously, when she heard Lin Qi was Tang Long’s savior, Luo Yingying had been eager to win Lin Qi back.

But Lin Qi ignored her calls and messages, leaving her at a loss.

Now, learning that the connection between Lin Qi and Tang Long was severed, Luo Yingying felt secretly relieved: “Thank goodness I didn’t remarry that loser. Such a huge favor, and all it yielded was a fancy but useless wedding—not even a successful one!”

She tried to reconnect with Young Master Tong, but he no longer paid her any attention.

Even the most devoted sycophant has limits.

Luo Yingying, however, was unfazed. There would always be new admirers, one after another.

Using all her wiles, she soon managed to attract the manager of one of Longyue Group’s branch offices.

The manager, Mr. Zhao, was in his forties, with a son already in junior high.

But Luo Yingying didn’t care—as long as there was money and power, nothing else mattered.

Most importantly, Luo Feifei worked in the very branch under Mr. Zhao’s management.

Mr. Zhao, for his part, didn’t mind adding a young, pretty lover to his life.

It took only a few days before the two were inseparable.

While Mr. Zhao’s interest was still fresh, Luo Yingying made her move: she wanted him to break up Luo Feifei and Lin Qi.

Mr. Zhao had attended Lin Qi and Luo Feifei’s wedding at the Shenzhu Grand Hotel.

Now that Lin Qi and Tang Long were no longer connected, offending Lin Qi was no risk at all. Mr. Zhao patted his chest confidently, “Leave it to me!”

Soon after, he called Luo Feifei into his office.

“Feifei, you’ve been interning here for nearly three months now—how are you finding it?” Mr. Zhao asked with a friendly smile.

“It’s… it’s alright…” Apart from her own department supervisor, this was the first time Feifei had ever spoken to such a high-ranking leader; she couldn’t help feeling a little nervous.

“No need to be nervous—have a seat,” Mr. Zhao gestured to the chair opposite him.

“Thank you, Manager.” Feifei sat down, gradually relaxing in the face of his kindly demeanor.

Mr. Zhao took a sip of tea before speaking slowly. “Supervisor Wang has been in the hospital these past few days. I hear you’ve taken on a lot of his work—a remarkable feat for an intern! Your permanent position is already a certainty.”

Supervisor Wang had previously been beaten up twice by those two men in black, and had been bedridden for a month. The design department’s work had nearly ground to a halt, and even the senior staff were at a loss. Thankfully, at the crucial moment, Feifei stepped up, leading the team through several tough business challenges.

Though she was only an intern, everyone in the department respected her.

“Thank you for your praise, Manager. I couldn’t have managed without everyone’s help!” Feifei’s confidence soared as the topic shifted to work.

“Not only can you become a permanent employee,” Mr. Zhao continued, “but even the supervisor position is within reach. Supervisor Wang is getting old and often falls ill—he should make way for the younger generation…”

A promotion, and to supervisor, no less?

This was a windfall beyond imagination.

Ever since she’d caught Supervisor Wang sneaking a hand around her waist, Feifei had been disgusted by him. She felt no guilt at the thought of replacing him.

“Thank you so much, Manager Zhao!” Feifei was overjoyed, rising at once to bow in gratitude.

“Don’t thank me yet. If you want to be made permanent, and even become supervisor, there are conditions,” Mr. Zhao said, waving a dismissive hand.

“What conditions? I’ll do my best to meet them!” Feifei assumed it was a work-related matter, already prepared to swear an oath of commitment.

“It’s simple: break up with Lin Qi and move out of his apartment,” Mr. Zhao replied in a low, deliberate voice.
