Do you love me?
Although the bride and groom had yet to make their appearance, no one seemed concerned; it was perfectly normal for something to cause a delay.
"Please wait a moment, everyone. I'll go take a look," Tang Long said as he headed toward the side of the stage. Meanwhile, a celebrity ascended the stage, singing and dancing to keep the atmosphere lively.
At the Luo family table:
"I never expected that Lin Qi would turn out to be Tang Long's savior!" Father Luo remarked, his tone filled with awe.
"This fellow, honestly—why didn't he mention it before? Sitting on such a valuable connection, yet he chose to become a deliveryman!" Mother Luo complained, half reproachful.
"Luckily, Feifei is marrying him after all!"
"That's right—with Tang Long as our backing, our Luo family is about to soar!"
"My son has always wanted to join Longyue Group; now we finally have a way in... Once the wedding is over, I'll talk to Lin Qi about it!"
The other relatives chimed in, all looking at Lin Qi with renewed respect.
At the deliverymen's table:
"Lin Qi sure is lucky—saving Tang Long’s life, of all things... Why can't something like that happen to me?" Da'an grumbled enviously.
"He could have stayed at Longyue Group, but chose to be a deliveryman for three years... Lin Qi isn't simple," Hong Yu mused thoughtfully.
"And his wife is beautiful, too... My gosh, he's really got it all!" The other deliverymen sighed in amazement.
Outside of these two tables, few paid any mind to Lin Qi or Luo Feifei; everyone’s attention was fixed on Tang Long.
Each table was singing Tang Long's praises.
Elsewhere, Tang Long found Lin Qi.
"Young master, why haven't you gone on stage?" Tang Long asked, puzzled.
Lin Qi, however, gazed across the way, his expression serious. "Feifei hasn't gone up, so I won't either."
According to the schedule, Lin Qi and Luo Feifei were supposed to enter from opposite sides of the stage.
Tang Long looked across and saw that Luo Feifei was indeed standing immobile.
"I'll go see what's wrong," he said, about to move forward.
Lin Qi stopped him. "Let me."
Lin Qi quietly circled behind the stage, arriving at the other side where Luo Feifei was standing.
Coming up behind her, he asked softly, "Feifei, what's the matter?"
Luo Feifei turned around, not surprised to see him, though her expression was complicated. "Brother-in-law, I still can't believe it—are all these things really true?"
Lin Qi smiled gently. "Of course it's true. You heard it just now, didn't you? I once saved President Tang's life, which is why he’s hosting this grand wedding for us."
Luo Feifei’s expression remained conflicted, as if she wanted to speak but couldn’t find the words.
"What's wrong? Don't you want to get married?" Lin Qi asked softly.
She quickly shook her head. "No! I’ve dreamed of marrying you!"
"Then what is it?"
"Brother-in-law..."
Suddenly, Luo Feifei lifted her head, her expression solemn. "Do you truly want to marry me?"
Lin Qi answered earnestly, "Of course—marriage is no small matter. Do you think I’m joking?"
She pressed further. "Brother-in-law, do you like me?"
Lin Qi nodded. "Of course!"
Luo Feifei bit her lip gently, summoning her courage. "Brother-in-law, do you love me?"
Lin Qi was caught off guard.
Her question pierced him like a silent needle.
"I..." Lin Qi struggled to reply; the word "love" weighed too heavily.
Or perhaps, he simply wasn't qualified to speak of love.
His family’s vengeance was still unfulfilled; his father languished in prison. How could he have the heart for romance?
Even his marriage to Luo Yingying had been an act of necessity.
"You like me, but you don’t love me," Luo Feifei said seriously. "Brother-in-law, I can feel your affection. Whatever happens, you always stand by me without hesitation. But you don’t love me, at least not in the way between a man and a woman..."
Lin Qi did not deny it.
In truth, his fondness for Luo Feifei was no more than that of an elder brother for a younger sister.
Romantic love simply didn’t exist.
"Brother-in-law, I've dreamed of marrying you, because you truly are a good man! But I don’t want to do it this way, and I don’t want you to marry me if you don’t love me..."
"Perhaps... love can be cultivated..." Lin Qi ventured.
A girl as innocent, sweet, and kind-hearted as Luo Feifei—who wouldn’t like her?
Falling in love seemed only natural.
"Very well, then let’s cultivate it," Luo Feifei said with a smile. "Brother-in-law, when you fall in love with me, we’ll get married!"
Lin Qi was stunned. "So today... we won’t?"
"No," Luo Feifei shook her head. "And besides, I don’t like all this pomp. I don’t know a single person in the audience! My wedding should belong to me, even if it’s simple, with just a few guests—not like this grand spectacle..."
Suddenly, she looked nervous. "President Tang went to such lengths for us—if we suddenly cancel, will he be upset?"
"He won’t," Lin Qi replied with a smile. "I’ll go explain it to him."
Lin Qi turned and hurried back to the other side of the stage.
