I'm not afraid of you.
After a long and exhausting day at work, the riders laughed and chatted among themselves. Once their shifts were over, they prepared to head home.
“Lin Qi, come in for a moment!” Hong Yu called from the office.
Lin Qi was startled, unsure why the station manager wanted him, but he still went inside.
“Close the door,” Hong Yu said.
Lin Qi closed the door.
Outside, chaos erupted.
Hong Yu, being a single woman living in a nest of men, always kept the door open when discussing matters to avoid any suspicion. What was happening today?
“What’s going on here…” Da An muttered, his tone dripping with jealousy.
Inside the office, Lin Qi sat opposite Hong Yu.
“Was work smooth today?” Hong Yu asked casually, pouring Lin Qi a cup of tea.
“Smooth,” Lin Qi replied.
“Has anything happened recently?” Hong Yu asked again.
“No…” Lin Qi looked bewildered, not understanding what Hong Yu was getting at.
“Really nothing?” Hong Yu looked at him. “If there’s anything, just tell me. We’ll figure it out together.”
“Really, nothing at all. Has something happened?” Lin Qi started to sense something was off.
Lin Qi wouldn’t speak, and Hong Yu didn’t feel right pressing further.
“As long as there’s nothing, that’s good…” Hong Yu said. “Everyone’s been working hard lately. I want to organize a gathering. Go tell them—those who have things to do can go home first, those who don’t can come sing with me.”
Hong Yu felt Lin Qi might be holding back; perhaps a little alcohol would loosen him up.
“Alright.” Lin Qi got up, went outside, and announced Hong Yu’s decision.
There were over twenty riders at the station, most of them bachelors. Going home wasn’t much fun, so when the station manager suggested karaoke, they were all for it!
In the end, more than ten followed Hong Yu to a KTV.
Hong Yu was generous and booked a luxury private room.
She was never stingy with her riders.
The group arrived at the lavish room, eating, drinking, and singing with wild abandon.
Hong Yu, holding a glass of liquor, sat beside Lin Qi.
“Lin Qi, drink.”
“Alright.” Lin Qi raised his glass and clinked it with Hong Yu’s.
Watching this, Da An’s eyes nearly blazed with fury.
“Sister Yu, what’s really going on?” After three drinks, Lin Qi felt Hong Yu was acting very strange tonight.
“Lin Qi, if you have anything, talk to me. We’ll solve it together…” Hong Yu was already tipsy.
“I really don’t have anything…”
“Then you haven’t drunk enough.” Hong Yu lifted another glass.
Lin Qi had no choice but to drink with her again.
After another glass, Hong Yu couldn’t hold her liquor anymore. Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes grew hazy.
“Lin… Lin Qi… If you don’t tell me what’s wrong… you don’t trust your sister…” Hong Yu’s head tilted, falling onto Lin Qi’s shoulder.
“Sister Yu, are you alright?” Da An immediately rushed over, shaking Hong Yu’s shoulder.
“Sister Yu, you’re drunk, let me take you home!” Da An bent down, pretending to lift Hong Yu.
“Get off, who’s drunk…” Hong Yu shook her head, pushing Da An away.
“Drink, keep drinking…” Hong Yu raised her glass again.
Just then, the door to the room was suddenly pushed open. A manager-looking man hurried in.
He came to Hong Yu and whispered a few words in her ear.
Hong Yu’s brows instantly furrowed. “I booked the luxury room, why should I give it up?”
The manager anxiously replied, “But the other party is Brother Feng…”
“Brother Feng, Brother Rain, whatever…” Hong Yu shoved the manager aside and shouted. “Go tell him, Sister Yu booked this room—no one can take it!”
The manager looked troubled but finally sighed and left.
“Come, let’s drink, let’s sing!” Hong Yu stood up, rallying everyone to dance along.
“Sister Yu, you’re awesome!” The group cheered, jumping up to dance.
At that moment, the door was kicked open.
Four or five burly men surrounded a middle-aged man as they strode in.
Everyone knew what was about to happen.
The riders, young and full of bravado, immediately stood up en masse.
When it came to fighting, they weren’t afraid.
Da An rolled up his sleeves and grabbed a bottle.
Their numbers outweighed the other side.
“Well, quite a crowd. No wonder you dare disrespect Duan Feng!” The middle-aged man sneered.
Hearing the name “Duan Feng,” the riders all sat down at once.
Da An quietly put the bottle back and rolled down his sleeves.
On Construction Street, it used to be Boss Chai’s territory.
After Boss Chai fled, Duan Feng rose to power.
Everyone knew his name.
If Hong Yu hadn’t been drunk, upon hearing “Brother Feng,” she would have relinquished the room.
But she was drunk.
Alcohol emboldens, and women are no exception.
“Duan… Duan Feng, is it…” Hong Yu swayed, pointing a delicate finger. “I’m not afraid of Tang Long, why should I be afraid of you?”
